Yes you can take lumber, I've done it on many occassions. Maximum import amount through San Isidro is $1000.00 so make sure your not importing more than that.

When entering the border go into secondary parking stalls. If you go early in the morning there should be plenty of open stalls to park across with your trailer. I've been there as late as 8:00 am and still had plenty of space to park with a trailer.

Walk over to the little table next to the exit guard gate. Give the customs person the receipt for what you plan to import. They will fill out some paperwork then both of you will walk over to your vehicle to verify. Make sure they can get to it easily. Then you will go over to a window in the buildings to the right of the parking to pay your duty. Bring it back to the desk, they'll stamp it and you'll be on your way. Very easy.

We were told at the Mexicali East crossing the limit was $3000.00, we came close to that figure a couple of times while building our new beach house this past year and a half.

Built a home in La Bocana de Santo Tomas also some 14 years ago and brought everything through Otay without any problems...

Haven't had a bad trip yet....
