Face it. The Inn at Loreto Bay is not in Loreto. It's the old Camino Real hotel that was rebuilt. They use it as a cover to sell property in the
Loreto Bay development. Those prices quoted could get you a five star place in Los Cabos. I have no problem if folks want to live in that sterile
gringo environment. But, it's not Loreto. Lots of fine places to stay and dine in Loreto. Looking forward to checking out La Mision soon. Love Augies.
And in the heat of the summer, usually stay at Hacienda Suites and eat at Domingo's, so I don't have to spend much time in the heat.

Well it was my first time in Loreto. I have a greater understanding of the area now. Any posting will be greatly appreciated. I was not that impressed
with the resort. And the construction was very annoying. The parking lot was ridiculously small.
During our drive from LA to La Paz we stayed in many hotels. Some nicer than others. All were interesting. The only one I will never stay in again was
the one in Mulege. But the rest were fine.

Please give us more detail on your trip. Where you stayed and where you ate. One of the reasons we are here is to share info and encourage enjoyment
of the baja experience.

From what I can see the la mision looks great on the website. about $200 per night for an ocean view. Inn at Loreto was offering $150 per night,
however I didn't like the location. I am trying to decide to go to Loreto, Cabo, or Caribbean (puerto rico, or St. lucia) for a week in march. Love
the price of Loreto. Cabo is a little pricier, seems to be at least $250 per night, more for 5 star place. Caribbean starts at $250 a night for a
dump.

Go to Cabo. Better air rates. Try the Finesterra. $100 a night or so. Walk to town. Dolphinarium across the street.

Use sidestep.com. Check out the Cabo deals. Many hotels with spas. Not dissing Loreto, which I love, but you just don't sound like the wife will like
it there.

My only hook for Cabo is that I have a place there. Lord knows, they probably don't need the money as badly as Loreto because of all the sold
timeshares. But places like Sheraton Hacienda del Mar would fill your bill.

I agree it would be very nice if everyone shared their experiences. My trip was in late Aug 2008. Very nice trip except for getting caught in Tropical
Storm Julio. I will, in the next few days as time allows, add a little more about Baja Sur. I will have to refer to my notes and rethink the trip. We
(wife and I) spend about two weeks down there but it flew by so fast. The experiences are now fading. I guess it is time for another trip!! !!

Will C..maybe I can help. I am pretty much a novice when it comes to Baja. I drove down to Mulege in 2007 and as far as La Paz (well Todos Santos but
that was a day trip from La Paz) in 2008. Went with a buddy in 2007 and my wife in 2008. Loreto was ok but I would go again (but not stay in the same
hotel...). We wereboth very impressed with La paz. VERY. She LOVED Todos Santos. I thought it was nice but I wanted to go fishing, not shopping. But
it is a very nice town. Any questions?
My wife is not a snob at all but does enjoy the finer things in life on occasion. She is in upper management but a Mexican immigrant. She did just as
fine in our nicer hotel in Loreto (ok..ok..Nopalo..whatever..) as she did when we had to sleep in an abandoned house when the road home washed out in
about 7 places when Tropical Storm Julio hit Mulege in August. My point is that she does not whine when a town only offers a hotel with a one or two
star hotel but expects a pricier hotel to deliver. the one in Loreto did not. But as some have pointed out, our hotel was not in Loreto. So I am
gettting educated on some options for our next visit. Ask away if you haveany questions... Jon

JaraHurd, I think you are like many of us. Come down to enjoy and learn as much as possible. Find out you really do like it and make plans to return
asap. Try this site: http://www.bajabigfish.com/ -- Pam is a nomad and she and her husband run a first class service. Give her a call and learn when to come down and
if she can book you in a place of your dreams. I'll bet she'll preform magic for you & the wife.

Russ..funny you should mention Pam. I had reservations to use her outfit to go fishing when we were enroute to Loreto. Due to this and that we were
late into town. Very late actually. She told me the night prior to our arrival to call her, no matter how late we arrived. We finally arrived at our
hotel at 9 pm. And I called. She was AWESOME. Explained everything. Took care of everything. I ended up buying about 10 T-shirts from her so all of my
buddies are fishing or working out in them here in L.A.
To me, Pam is Loreto. She made a very positive impression on me. I would go out of my way to visit Loreto simply to go fishing with Big Baja Fishing
Co again. Too bad I have forgotten the skipper's name that we went out with. Class act. very patient. You could not be more correct. Jon

We stay in Loreto each year on the way to Bahia Asuncion as we fly out of Loreto. We have stayed at the Inn on Loreto Bay once when our flight was
cancelled, courtesy of the airline. It was a great place with certainly the nicest rooms in Loreto, nice pool, and certainly not very crowded for
dinner or otherwise. Not many people there so not sure how they make any money even at $250US per night.
We have stayed at the Oasis and found it very nice, good restaurant, on the ocean, with not a bad pool, but always pretty cold as so close to the
ocean. Since we take the bus often, we now stay at the Hacienda Inn which is downtown right across from the Bus Station. Very nicely kept, clean and
good rooms and about $95 per night, not so good for parking either though. Only problem is that it is a little noisier in the morning due to traffic.
The Hacienda is closer to downtown than the Oasis and a little easier to get to shopping area.
The other hotel we stayed at was on a back road near the Aroya but it was noisy at night, Mexican prices of $30 per night and a long walk to get
down to the town.
Its nice to spoil oneself sometimes in Mexico so I understand completely why you chose the Inn on the Bay. Someday we would like to check out Bob
and Susan's place when it works for our schedule.
Some pretty good choices in the city,

Bob..u were awesome and did warn me. You did nothing wrong and i thank you for your offer to have me stay at your place. I should have been traveling
with a 4wd vehicle. That would have helped a lot. Once again.... you did warn me and were very accomodating. I do intend on staying at your place some
day!! Jon

Jara-your wife should accept Baja on its own terms - Baja sur has the spas, manicure places and wait staff for her every demand and unreasonable
expectation - but the rest of Baja is not what that's about. Maybe you should leave her home next time and have a real good time fishing-save a ton of
money too.
