Dennis Gluck being handed over to US officials...

...Authorities believe that Gluck, who had never been to Mexico and does not speak Spanish, arrived there Jan. 22 and moved from place to place every day. He traveled from Ensenada to La Paz to Cabo San Lucas and then back to La Paz, where he took a ferry to Sinaloa. He then turned up in Mexicali, Castillo said.

“It was a very unique case,” Castillo said. “He wouldn't stop.”

Gluck was captured after the U.S. Marshals Service notified the Baja California Ministerial Police that Gluck had made a cash withdrawal at an ATM machine in Mexicali.

The Baja California detectives followed his trail to the bus station, finding that he had purchased a ticket to Ensenada under the name Bill Wright, authorities said. Gluck did not resist when agents boarded his bus and arrested him in Ensenada on Thursday evening, said Lidia Gallegos Aguilar, assistant attorney general for Baja California.

Gluck was handed over to Carlsbad detectives just after 1:30 a.m at the San Ysidro border crossing, Carlsbad police Lt. Kelly Cain said. He was booked into the Vista jail, with bail set at $5 million, Cain said.

Chopping Suspect Enters Plea

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29472139/

By Eric S. Page
March. 4, 2009

A North County man accused of killing his parents entered a plea in court Monday.

Dennis Gluck, 44, was formally charged at his arraignment Monday in a Vista courtroom. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Gluck was arrested last week on a bus near Ensenada and handed over to Carlsbad detectives. Police had been looking for him for more than a month.

Harry Gluck, 90, and Jean Gluck, 77, were found dead in their Carlsbad home last month. The medical examiner's office said they died of "chop wounds" to the neck and head.

Gluck, who has a history of mental illness, was booked into the Vista jail. His bail has been set at $5 million, Williams said.

He was practicing for his drug cartel entrance exam. He was looking for Teo, the Feo, in Ensenada.

I wonder how much Corona paid him to wear their tee shirt in the arrest foto?

Wearing that shirt is probably what got him arrested. Everything else just fell into place.

Man In Carlsbad Deaths To Be Sent To Mental Facility
June 24, 2009

SAN DIEGO -- A man accused of hacking his parents to death in their Carlsbad home and fleeing to Mexico, where he was captured about six weeks later, is not mentally competent to stand trial, a judge ruled Wednesday.

Dennis Gluck, 44, will be sent to Patton State Hospital for up to three years or until he regains his competency, authorities said.

After reviewing a doctor's report, Judge Frederick Maguire suspended criminal proceedings against Gluck and ordered that he be sent to the state mental hospital for treatment.

Gluck had a history of "aggressive" behavior toward his parents, but none recently while he lived with them, police said.

He is charged with two counts of murder, a knife use allegation and a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, which could lead to the death penalty.

Carlsbad police found the bodies of 90-year-old Harry Gluck and his 78-year-old wife, Jean, in a bedroom of their home on Jan. 18.

Both victims died of "chop" wounds to their upper bodies, inflicted by a bladed instrument of some kind.

Dennis Gluck was apprehended by Mexican police on a bus near Ensenada on Feb. 26 and turned over to U.S. authorities.

Carlsbad police Lt. Kelly Cain said Gluck had assaulted people before with "edged weapons" and was arrested several years ago for attacking someone with a machete at a homeless camp in Oceanside.

well I guess I can't comment then?

WOW!

this guy looked as though he'd blend in well as a casual tourist. he may have been in Loreto and thinking how dangerous he was we all ought to always be on the alert with those we don't know.

people are trusting in Baja that's why we're all here but predators know this and they use our naivete and camaraderie to their advantage and they blend right in while doing it. this happened to us a few times right after I came here to live, ripped off by gringos that I actually liked well I guess I learned quick. just keep your eyes and ears open and have the bs meter turned on somewhere in the background, that's all.
