Estero Beach is guard-gated. I'd certainly recommend them. Great rooms and a decent restaurant. And it is South of town. Check out their web site. The Joker would be a joke, as far as security is concerned as it is right on the main drag, with more than one access to the parking lot.

And for good measure, I know many nomads seem to like Papagayos, but if you check out Tripadvisor.com, it has been really trashed in the reviews recently.

The two night minimum is only for busy periods and is negotiable. We stayed there in August last year with only a one night stay.
