Thank you 6flora6. Can you tell me what you are taking? Group, private, in home, # of weeks, and who else appears to be taking lessons at the same time?

Greatly appreciate.

La Paz sounds great too!! Here is the number for the Language Department at UABC, Ensenada:

011-52-646-1752296

In the past, you didn't have to be a registered student in the UC system, alot of folks went to these classes, but maybe now, the teachers went private.

Ok. good luck !

p.s. If I could afford it, the Keith thing sounds good too.

Tim,
I have signed up for 2 weeks although I may extend it. I believe there are currently 9 students enrolled. They do an assesment when you sign up and then group you with people of a similar level. I believe their classes are no larger than 4 or 5, although there are only 2 of us in my class (almost private lessons for the price of group!) Most of the students are Norte Americanos. Mostly twenty/thirtysomethings and teachers right now I presume because it is summer time and folks are out of school.
They really focus on getting you able to talk about things that are important to you (your job/hobbies/family/etc.) which is important I think. It gives you conversational skills that apply to your life.

Thank you Margi and 6Flora6. My wife is making the calls/inquiries now and hopes to have it all wrapped up by Friday. Looking at the last week of July & first week of Aug.

6Flora6, are you staying with a family? Would you also share a bit more towards then end? You can reach me at timclmoore at adelphia dot net if you prefer.

Tim,
I live here in La Paz, so I am not doing a homestay. One of my classmates is however and has a pool - kinda makes me wish I was doing one... lol.

Wife and two daughters did attend the Se Habla La Paz Language School. For the week of August 2nd. Great addition to go with what they already had under their belt. The weekend prior we (the couple of days I was with them) stayed at Los Arcos (been staying there since I was a kid...just love that place...best tortilla soup we have ever found...and we do a lot of searching) and then the wife and girls moved to Club El Morro. Clean, safe, nice pool, and friendly helpful staff...the only real 'downer' was no in room phones...(If I would have been with them, this would not have been a concern). All 3; school and both hotels get a strong recommendation from us.

Old dogs new tricks? Every day I work with spanish speaking people. And when they realy start rambleing it still sounds like Japaness to me. After lord know how many years of trying to learn my brain still fades unless I'm one on one and my amigos habla muy despasio. What I need is to hit baja for a couple months and NOT speak ingles AT ALL. ;) I'd be forced to pay more attention And....... I'd be in Baja for a couple months!! Glad your trip turned out so well in La Paz the city of peace !
