If you do decide to do your renewal through the consular office in Cabo San Lucas, I would advise you to call the office directly and ask them about what you need to bring and what their hours are.

I also renewed through them last spring, but I found that the info on the gov website was different from what I was told on the phone.....especially their open hours. You don't want to get all the way down there and find that the office is closed.

Phone is 624-143-3566.

Other than that the whole process went very smoothly and also took about 3 weeks for me to get my new passport.
