Mood: Ready for some salt water with my Tecate

DanO gave you excellent directions except it's the first road south of the military base that you head west. I think it would be wise to hook up with BajaGringo or make sure you go out at a reasonable hour especially on week days, some times they have to bring them in to order. The sea shell palapa eatery's owners DanO mentioned live in the house directly in front on the bay. They were very kind to us when the BajaFam lived there. The Bahia is were Erin and Mister became addicted to ostiones and choros from Chorera. We love the Bay, it's beaches and especially the people.

Hola irenemm ,

" rather have my teeth pulled then drive that '....damn, is it really that bad ????? i guess i had better put some extra denture cement on !

ya know, if the oysters are that great as the ones at point reyes station north of san fancisco, i think it'll be more than worth the difficult drive ?

i really do not think it's going to matter as i've been wanting to do this for many years and i think it's time to do it !

i thank everybody for their feedback.

Hola DanO,

i just clicked onto the site you provided and it looks like about a ten mile drive once i get off mex 1 onto lazaro Card##as.

is the entire drive over washboard ? i didn't realize the bay ran that far north.

for sure, i'll be giving BajaGringo a heads up for his guidance when i plan on being in the area around mid-october or so. maybe sooner if i see a storm on it's way to los barriles.

by the way, i'm an avid fisherman, does anyone know of an inexpensive panga or would someone like to share a panga for a day, maybe two ? we hire pangas in the east cape directly with the pangeros and go out for the day, usually at muertos bay for $ 100.00 - 140.00 plus bait and tip. sure would like to take some white seabass to l.a. but it would be pretty late in the season but it looks like the season is just getting started for tuna on the pacific side. maybe the whites will bite ? if not, calicos would do just fine too.

thanks for the info.

the oysters are so worth it. it is about 14 miles on washboard. sometimes the bottom road it better.
after almost 30 years of dirt roads not that much fun.
but do the trip. if you get out there with one of the people from ensenada they will give you the whole history and how the water are very protected. the usda and the mexican govt check the waters every month to make sure it is clean and safe for the seafood.
smoke them and oh so good.
enjoy your adventure.
the road is right next to the base just as the base ends going south. just as it starts going north.
have fun

Hola irenemm, thank you for your input. i didn't realize it was a USDA type of thing. at least that will give me more confidence in their product.
