Actually, it was a lame attempt at being serious. My point should have been that adultery, "the other woman", is such an integral part of the Mexican
culture that we of a foreign culture will never fully understand the implications of anything that tries to legislate a new morality.
Legal or otherwise, the practice won't stop. It's supposed to be a secret in spite of it's flaunted practice. A cultural charade of sorts.

It doesn't add up. If there's "another woman" there must be a corresponding "the other man". These women must come from somewhere.

Not really. Female adultery is not allowed. Machismo won't tolerate that. She is more often an unattached co-worker or night club
aquaintance....something like that.
We arn't talking about professionals here. Just women who are content with being kept without the formallity of marriage.
It is definitely woven into the fabric of the culture with motels that cater to the discreet couple in need of a siesta.
It's pretty much everywhere and married women almost expect their spouse to be unfaithful....and there's a good chance that they will be eventually.
These patterns of behavior are more prevalent for the "well set" factions of society who have more exposure to social situations with like minded
co-conspirators. It's everywhere.

Machismo won't tolerate it if machismo knows it. These things are done discretely. When a man commits adultery he pounds his chest about it, a women
does it discretely.
There's no survey to support any of this. But the numbers just still don't add up.

That's why most women in Mexico are kept pregnant and in the kitchen. There are still "crimes of passion" here and that's a reality for a cheating
wife. A husband will not be embarrased by a cheating wife without proving to his world that he's still boss.
It ain't like the states, at all.

An alternate culture...yes.
It is the hoar-Mother, Malinche, who has earned a status of cheating trollop for all Mexican women, regardless of their behavior. They are born with
the stigma and will be treated accordingly as the quiet side of culture demands.
Consequently, the woman, the wife, being fully aware of the dictates of the culture on the man, expects him to play his role by the script which was
written 500 years ago.
Dave....ask a Mexican. I have zero credibility here.
