If La Baja could move the Cafe El Triunfo next to my hut, I would be eternally grateful (yes that's a cinnamon bun and the world's best
oven-fired pizza). .

Papa John's is now in Ensenada. We'll see how they do.
There are little motorcycles with insulated boxes on the back going all over the place selling individually wrapped slices of pizza for 10 P's each. Not bad after a box of beer.

The above pizza looks good, but it could have used a 180 spin half way through.

Fully equipped Sporting Goods store.
REAL American .....snacks.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

La Paz has ALMOST everything a person could ask for. Heck, in the last 3 years, near my casita near the airport, they built a Home Depot, a Walmart, a Sam's Club, a new giant Mega supermarket and a big movie theater, another huge shopping center with a new giant Soriana supermarket, a big department store called Liverpool which is equivalent to a Macy's department store, and they are now putting the finishing touches on another mega movie theater. Recently, they built a new giant hospital about 3 miles from my casita as well. It's unbelieveable in that the economy has tanked in the US and most everywhere else, but in La Paz, the building industry is as though it is in a boom cycle by comparison.

For al that, the thing that I am most grateful for is that Walmart carries Sonoran Beef!

I originally wanted to locate in Loreto, I begged but no contractor would build a little casita for me, they only wanted to work on big houses in 2006. So, disgusted, I went to La Paz and found a great casita on a large lot in a great location for 1/3rd of what I would have had to pay in Loreto. And then a great building boom followed and brought all those great stores and facilities mentioned above, all within 3 miles of the casita. Before that, La Paz already had everything you could ask for, including the best malecon in all of Mexico, great and plentiful restaurants, excellent shopping district down town, plenty of marine supply stores and boat repair businesses, a superb music supply store, all the professional services, plus all government and administrative offices close by. But now, it's like having the conveniences of living in Irvine, Orange County, Southern California.

As far as American snacks, well, La Paz has McDonalds, SubWay, Burger King, Magnum Ice Cream bars, several 7-11 type store chains (Oxxo, Modelorama, Aramburo, et al) and more hot dog stands than taco stands.

The one thing that is lacking, though, and only one thing. Fish. Not what it used to be.

Some of us might get projects completed sooner!

But then again, look at all the free advertising that would be lost.

"Not bad after a box of beer."

For Dennis- SOS is probably not bad after a box of beer.

For MitchMan- Yikes! All those big box stores they built just East of the airport. Gawd. Do they really have enough traffic to sustain?

For Comitan- Warmer winters ain't gonna happen at the lattitude of Baja, even Cabo. One needs to travel farther South. Lattitude 22 is barely above the Southern-most of Baja. I feel your chill. Spent way too many cold nights in BCS.

But maybe you need to even it out by factoring in all those 105 degree days of summer.:lol:
