also, i was always afraid to go through the arch as i wasn't sure there was an area for me to turn my car and utility trailer around. not very good at backing up.

Parking in and around Mulege

Mulege "city center" is actually quite small; however for those in town for the first time it can be quite confusing as it's a series of unmarked one-way streets that "clearly" don't make sense and might be considered crazy-making to the uninitiated. Top that off, there are maps of town which is a nice thing. Unfortunately the streets are largely unsigned, but really you don't need a map; its that small a town.

Don't let what I just said put you off of a visit, however, 'cause its one of the more charming villages in Baja and a stop is definitely in order.

Rigs with campers/trailers can and do come into town. If you do, just plan on coming straight in and turning around down towards the river. You'll almost always find parking at the end of town down by Saul's Market/the Lighthouse River Road. From there you can easily walk pretty much anywhere you want.

Another option is to park your rig outside the town arch out on the highway. There's a fairly empty lot by a soldering business. Ask to park there and walk into town. There's also a car wash just across the highway. They do a bang-up carwash... I mean to say they get your car really clean!

If you're staying at The Serenidad, Casa Granada, Cliff's B&B or Cuesta Hotel just south of town ask them to call a taxi to take you in-- or you could walk into town in about 45 minutes. If you do the walk, wear comfy shoes, a hat and carry plenty of water to drink.


Smaller rigs can get in and around town.
