A comforting attitude to have, but when the shoe drops, it's a different story.

I'll bet those dispossessed folks out on the Estero used to say the same thing at c-cktail parties, but not so cavalier when the army was at their door.

The saying does, however, apply well if all one has is a fishing shack, and I believe that's where the saying originated....in the formative days of our "adventure tourism into paradise."

Nice shot, Ken. You must have been back a ways with a long lens to get that much compression.
Where the kids are digging in the sand..........depending on the day, you can see steam coming up from the thermal water below. On a cold day it looks like it's boiling.

And the Kennedy Cove road looks really close as well.

You won't be seeing Mike's house in this shot. It's off the front row.

DENNIS,

It was a zoom at 230mm. I use telephotos quite a bit for landscape shots.

That was taken back in 2008.

My family has had their home in Campo La Jolla since the early 70ies and never had a problem. It's a great place to live. I have been in Mikes home he is attempting to sell and it's a very nice small home. Very clean and secure and the neighbors are great. He will sell it for sure soon at that price.

I just want to drop a nostalgic note about La Jolla park; I stayed there the first time in '95 and have been returning ever since. Dug in the low-tide sands for a good hot mud-bath, marvelous!! Watched the slow transformation over the years, and the last time there (last year) the back wall with electric RV hook-ups is now a double-wide home.... last of a good thing gone. Only electric now is by the concession shacks and board rentals, and it sparks pretty good when you plug in. Plus, now all the tents w/boom-boxes are all conglomerated into a pretty tight laager. The owners/staff have always been marvelous; courteous, buena sonrisas, and until recently security wasn't too much of an issue. I always kind-of envied the cottage owners there.... just that Ensenada is too damned big for me. I'm going to miss it.........
