Blue screen of death is a sign of a major problem. It can be caused by several conditions, from conflicts to corupt files. Follow aquachico advise in above post. Or open thru your bios, then run in safe mode, then check for conflicts. If you are not comfortable with that either take it to a shop or buy online support who can walk you thru, then access your computer remotely and maybe solve the problem.

Thanks to all. I am somewhat relieved to find I am not the only person with this problem.

I've reviewed the problem on internet and apparently it is not an unheard of problem.
The computer is not a year old and I did purchase extended warranty so I hope the problem gets resolved.
Has any Nomad had similar problems?

Yes, it happened a lot with my last laptop that was a Dell. A part of the problem was that the Tel-Cel Banda Ancha software conflicted with some other software, or so they told me. The Geek Squad also told me that it happens when the laptop overheats --- I don't know.
But it only happened when we were in Baja and while using our Banda Ancha. Lots of other problem with the Dell.

Love my new Asus computer --- HATE windows 8, but it is better with the shell.

Glad to see you took my (and a couple of others') advice, Diana. I've had my Asus for two years now...no problems. Of course, mine came with Windows 7. I will never buy anything with Windows 8.

Yes, thank you. I have the shell that makes it more like Windows 8, but I am also considering having Windows 7 installed and kick 8 out completely! I hear they have something in the works for 8, but we will see.
