Restaurants? They are all great!

For my fish taco of the day I take the suggestion from the Bar Miramar bartender. I always try stopping at El General, on the road to the Airport south of the Glorieta (traffic circle). It opens later and has asada tacos. Taco plaza at the South end of the Malecon always has something at all hours. The Pollo rostado vendor across the old Clam Man has been there forever. Street vendors are exquisite, I like the Cocos. Down side streets there are always local establishments who barbecue your purchase and host you comfortably.

These are a few of my favorite "restaurants" in San Felipe. Have fun and enjoy!

An American couple runs this place. Damn good burgers! Great choice.

For dinner......
El Nido Avenida Mar de Cortez #348
Outstanding steak and chops. Secured parking. Decent price...no dress code.

Mariscos La Morena
Malecon Sur & Ensenada | Plaza Maristaco #16, rt corner, S end of the Malecon.
This is where you get shrimp! All their meals are great and decently priced.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Who has had a steak in El Nido San Felipe in the last 6 months? What did you have and how good was it? My last couple of steaks were not very good. I understand they are under new ownership, that all the El Nidos have been sold. I know the one in Loreto is not called El Nido anymore, ate there last Nov. and it was OK.

We ate there in June - I think I had breaded fried shrimp, and while a little pricy, were only OK, middle of the bell curve. And then I was reminded (not for the first time), that they only accept cash for payment, which meant I got to walk into town to the ATM machine. Not post margarita friendly.

El Nido & Buckaroo Burgers

We used to make El Nido a regular stop for dinner. Over the last two years we've had tough steaks, so so seafood. I rarely complain, figuring things go wrong once in a while. But last time I did complain and it was like talking to the computer - they offered no consideration, or offer of any kind.

If it has changed hands maybe it is now better. It has been just about a year since our last visit. The long time waiter, Juanito, is a hoot however.

Buckarro Burgers is closed during summer months.

Pete's Camp - start at the outside patio bar, you may decide to have your dinner on the patio, at the bar, it is just about ideal this time of year!

Edited this after talking with my wife; she believes that at Pete's Camp the restaurant is closed and only the outside patio bar is open during this time of year. In that event, a couple of Margaritas is still a pretty darned good way of starting off a late afternoon.

Hate to pile on as to El Nido but the LAST time I ate there, I ordered a shrimp dish...ya know, thinking I am in San Felipe and etc etc...

It was horrific...little bay shrimp in a foil something with something somethings next to it.

I love the room...love the vibe...but yikes, food doesn't match up.

San Felipe Resturants

Both Petes Camp resturant & Buckaroo Burgers are closed for summer. Petes outside bar is open, but I think no food. They will not open until Sept. Parrots Cracker (north of town) is also good but on short summer hours just now, Have a very good steak sandwich tho & good happy hours.
El Padrinos Italian (Former Red Lobster) is open but will close 2 weeks the end of Aug for vacations then re-open after. Very good food & service. The only reliably good steak at El Nido is the filet mignon in my opinion. big boys is open with good food as always.
El Cortez is also open with good food & service. Jolly Mon north of town (near eldorado) has good food also. Also I am told Juanitos & Azul (north of town across from Pemex) has good food & but neither serve alcohol.
Some places this time of year are only open late in the week & open later & close early depending on business.

Wow, the last time I was El Neto was about 2 years, But Juan was still there, I think he was part of the same family ? I think they had 3 or 4 places. But they
kept the 2, Rosarito, and San Felipe. But things always seem to be changing  Will try it again next time I am in town!

UPDATE: Pete's Camp Restaurant: Closed till September.
In and Out (Buckaroo's): Same
El Nido: wife didn't go for steak --- I lost out (Just had a great Bistek Tampiqueno in El Paso, though)
The Shrimp c-cktail and Campechana at La Morena-EXCELLENT. Had a good time but way too short.
Spent more time in La Mision, had to try out Splash, La Fonda 1 and two, etc.
Even managed to visit los traileros in Ensenada. Again, time way too short.
