Doesn't make him unfit to vote.

I totally agree. However, it DOES make him unfit to run for POTUS, kinda like our Senator from Arizona, who is a war hero and a PTSD sufferer.

The guy did enough time for his mistake. I think he got off with a 'fair' shake. Too many shady areas, like the hooker-hotel, he'd been there before, he'd been there THAT DAY, the room was still rented, so his oopsie-doopsie turn doesn't add up. I think Mexico figured he'd done enough time to satisfy the need to tell America it's serious about people caught with guns at the border, and what can happen, even with flimsy excuses.

I personally know about PTSD. I packed for years, almost killed someone TWICE over inconsequential CRAP, and after therapy and time to digest it came to the conclusion that carrying is NOT the answer. I really hope Tamahoozits gets into treatment, and i'm talking about in-patient help, especially after his ordeal. He's a danger on wheels living in his truck and packing the heat he had with. Wasn't IF, but WHEN, trust me. It's a true crying shame we have so many of US out on the streets in the same condition, same conditions, waiting for triggers. This is a happy ending for the Baja side of it; WHAT IS ANYONE GOING TO DO NEXT FOR HIM?

WHERE'S THE MARINE CORPS TODAY, AND TOMORROW? WHERE'S OUR SYSTEM?

WILL YOU STILL FOLLOW HIS STORY???

I hope he is not allowed in California. Why was this nut job driving his truck around San Diego with loaded automatic weapons on front seat! Send this psychopath back to Florida!

They were loaded shotgun and assault weapon!
No excuse for loaded weapons on front seat!
Irrelevant if they were automatic!

When a society places more concern for farm animals than war heroes or any human, it is surely demented. That's not to say some farm animals aren't smarter! At least the horse runs away from trouble and not drives into it.!

Think and don't just react...

Maybe some human compassion is in order...for a change.

Empathy, the ability to put yourself into someone else’s shoes, is one of the things that makes us human. It lets us know how others feel.

One should not have to emphasize this human feature. Nomads seems to have lost much empathy lately.

PTSD is a thought and event processing ailment. Perhaps this diversion can be put to good use.
Hoping....praying and wishing the best for this man.

I know a young man who came to CA with AR (same long gun)from CO without a bullet button, (required here in CA not in CO). He went to a shooting range and was told to put it away and make it legal. The law showed up ask to look at it and now he is a felon, lost his job. maybe his wife. He's a sharp kid that didn't know the law, I didn't hear anything about him.

*** sigh*** There's at least one in every crowd.

My point is, he is out because of the publicity, period. If it was you or I, we would do the time, unless our families could find a hook to get us in the news cycle and keep us there. I hope he gets some help. I also hope we never hear about him again.

Glad to see that the Marine is home and safe. The kid made a mistake and has paid for it. I thank him for his service to the Untied States of America and hope he is able to live a productive, successful life.

I hope he is able to keep his guns and one day protect the USA again.

I am starting to get feedback from Mexican citizens. They are not quiet as enthusiastic as people from the US and think there is definitely a double standard here. Some are very vocal about it.

The guy is a criminal that PURPOSEFULLY took guns into mexico. He had a hotel room in TJ and was taking his truck and arsenal to his hotel. He should be in prison and is lucky to be out. He got out of jail because he was mentally unfit to stand trial. I hope he is not being re-armed today.

When I posted the original notice I did so without any commentary, just as an advisory. I've seen so many posts about this situation, so I figured they would appear without any prompting.

I was married to a person who served in combat, and returned from the experience with shrapnel in his body (for life) along with PTSD and many of the other health and behavioral challenges that go along with being injured during a year spent in warfare situations. (He's been living in Baja for nearly 40 years.)

From our years together I can say: It's not easy to overcome those memories. He's done a lot to get his life on track with the support of family, friends, and professional colleagues, and is now doing very well.

I wish the same healing and recovery process for this veteran.

Lots of valid arguments on both sides of the issue, I am glad he has been released and hope he can get his life in order and I hope he gets the help he needs.

That said, let's plan a "chicken coop group" get together! Should we wait a year and make it an annual event or celebrate now? I can host a gathering here in BCS if enough of the group is interested. Heck, I'll even invite elinvestigator. We wouldn't even exist had it not been for him. Who's in? Let's hear some suggestions.....:bounce::bounce::bounce:

Hope he gets his life together & with family & friends he should have a good chance to do that. Some on here pointing at him calling him a "nut case" really should stop & think how many on this site already know who the "nut cases" are. At least he wasn't deported twice only to sneak back into our well secured USA border to be involved in killing two law enforcement officers. In talking with Americans they are upset about those being deported for criminal acts are not locked up instead of being released only to do more harm. Good for Mexico Judge using better choices before him than those acting hostile & hating on this Veteran Marine. When living in a glass house be careful when throwing rocks at others. Peace be with this Veteran Marine & all other veterans who went into combat to protect our FREEDOMS. Take Care & Travel Safe. "No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN!" bajafun777
