most of my seasons in Baja have been with a boat in tow..and never had a issue...of course the marines are all laughing about my dog strutting shades
!! the past two trips down I had a flare gun in a boat box (pelican) and a BIG knife in the trunk..I just clamly,,matter of factly say " para my

This is an Email I wrote to Fred Hoctor (Western Outdoor News Baja Editor) in 2000.
In July 1999 while returning from San Lucas Cove we were stopped at the last federal inspection at one of the Ensenada toll booths, and they found
some spare flair gun shells in my boat. We had removed the flair gun because the Vagabundos said it was illegal and you could go straight to jail.
We almost got an extended vacation in Mexico. After being released to go on twice, and their calling their supervisors, we finally got to go.
If you are correct, someone forgot to tell the federalles. I am not
going to risk it this year.

if you live in Baja and speak the local talk and not a "Gringo" with that kind of "rub"....... a knife or flare gun is not a issue...don't let it be a
issue..very simple...

Looks like the OP is asking from a casual Tourist perspective,
not the Old Hat Baja resident. Do you think the Checkpoint
guys will treat a Baja Resident Gringo totally different
than the average Gringo down for vacation?

checkpoints and cop stops
I have found that in almost all cases..where ever,,that the way you respond and act to a cop/CHP/fed/marine is the trick/answer in any part of the
world..act like a CLass and get delt with like a CLass..be firm, happy, responsible, easy going, respectful and you will get the same response...been thru
100's of checks and border crossings and the only problem was coming back thru nicky and got "niked" for dogs "sello's""

Thanks for pulling rank on me.
Our house in Los Barriles was just sold last December.
I did my time in Baja since 1972, actually my first trip was TJ in 1957. I also did the Newport to Ensenada in 1959.
Do you have a 50 year history in Baja?

It took you 3 years on here to learn NOT to post with all caps. I don't believe you know how to talk to people.
