another favorite Baja bird....
One of our friends and a worker at the house built these osprey nest holders on top of the power line poles to protect the birds from being zapped
building their own platforms. Good deal for these hunting birds...I have a great photo somewhere of one flying off with a rattlesnake wiggling in
it's talons. I will find it and post.

Best Baja bird you ask??! that's easy.....
the rare and most beautiful of Genus and Phylum "aluminum" class,
the - Piperus Comancherus.
This one was spotted in his favorite habitat.
Appears to be a mature specimen of 44 years.
formerly Ordained in Rev. Ewing\'s Church by Mail - busted on tax fraud.......

My Favorite bird sightings........
This bird sight at sea gets the blood going if you're a fisherman. When you see one of these happening, get into it quick and pitch a crocodile or
whatever you can cast and pull through the feeding fish. This is a relatively small 'boil'...years ago there would have been thousands more.

No, David, but a good guess..not the Old Pier, although that is a similar area..my 'pilings & pelicans' photo is many hundreds of miles away. Here's
another photo of that spot...hint: we went there to fish for rabalo (snook) and there used to be a cannery there many years ago.

Answer to the location of the pelican/piers photo....San Mateo in Mag Bay near the old cannery.
Here's a familiar sight in the shallows in front of our home. A great minnow catcher.

baja birding
Great photos! And speaking of, I am finally getting around to updating the www.BajaBirding.org web site. That means I need a new photo for the home page. A couple months ago a few folks sent me some possibilities, but I
wanted to get the word out again before I make the final choice. The only rules are that the photo has to have been taken in or around the Baja
peninsula and it has to be of a bird! Please include your name and year the photo was taken. The best shot will be on the web site home page for 6-8
months. The Baja Birding home page will look very similar to the www.BajaCaliforniaConservation.org home page once I get the changes made.

One of our resident osprey sitting on a mesquite stump that was a living tree when Earl Stanley Gardner requested it be spared when this seawall was
constructed in 1967.
