Here is my two centavos - I always stop at Baja Cactus. I like the owners, the next door gas station, the wi-fi, the dog friendly part, the watching
of the parking lot at night, and the fabulous fish tacos around the corner. But most of all I like that I can get up early in the morning to drive
over the (for me anyway) white knuckle hills to the south while on coming traffic is light. It is just about the right length of a drive to our house
in Punta Chivato, always gets me there in in daylight. The rooms are clean and there is bottled water provided. We can also park up front so my
father in law can keep his fridge plugged in over night.

Exactly. First time, second time, I always wanted to like the place, but never could.
That, and the fact that for the most part, I never found the merchants in El Rosario to be particularly hospitable. More than once, in two of the
markets, I was forced to wait for locals to conduct business even though I was front on line.
My take on El Rosario is that Ed's Baja's Best is a great place for breakfast. Other than that, we stay at Jardines, gas at the Los Pinos station, and
stop at Ed's and head on South.
Buddha fellow, you are so missing the fact that we have traveled all over Mexico by car. We have stayed in many spots throughout the nation. You are
obviously fixating on my profile and so much for you.

El viejo, el niņo y el burro...
This thread reminded me of the Fable "El viejo, el niņo y el burro"... anyway, thank you for the nice comments about BajaCactus... and about the "paid
spokesperson"... no, BajaCactus does not pay anyone to promote our services... it is called friendship.
Regarding our US phone line (619-6941082), we discontinued it last year. The reason is that initially that was an IP phone line provided by a company
named Getfon. It worked great for a couple of years but then it was bought by Alestra and since then we had a lot of trouble with it. We finally
decided to cancel the service. Sorry about that.
We can be reached at:
-- (616) 165-8850... From the US: (01152-616-165-8850)
-- (616) 165-8700... From the US: (01152-616-165-8700)
-- motel*at*bajacactus.com (replace *at* with @)
Again thank you for your continuous support and friendship... we will continue to do our best to help and be of service to anyone who needs it.
Safe and happy travels!!!

Have traveled the world, Buddha fellow.
Really didn't want to get into this on this forum, but back in the day, my friends and I were in the march from Selma to Montgomery.
I knew Bill Clinton in college. Have to say that although he was a vigorous organizer for the Selma march, he stayed back in Georgetown after all was
said and done. Kinda speaks for his character.
I was at the Woolworth's counter incident in Greensboro.
I spent a whole part of my life working for the disenfranchised.
That you trivialize my life by writing about Disneyland or a condo I have in Cabo is disgusting to me.

I really like the showers at Baja Cactus. The water just rips there. The volume and intensity is amazing. Better than just about any motel in the
states. Taking a shower at Baja Cactus is an experience.
The card they gave 5 weeks ago gives this number from the states

As most of you know when I go to Baja I stay with Mama Espinoza because she raised me and they expect me to stay there with them. That said, I have
stayed next door at Baja Cactus in the rooms in front of the office. They were clean and a very good price, and the desk clerks were nice too. I
would not hesitate to stay there again if need be. My only complaint is that they did not have any Baja Nomad stickers. I'd also like to say I alway
fill up my truck and my brother Sany's truck at the gas station next door before going to the Ranch in the San Juan De Dios Mountain. I have never had
one problem and believe the gas attendants to be honest. I know some of the gas pump attendants and they are good people.

I stayed at Baja Cactus the first time last year and I had always heard good things. My room was clean but simple and I was happy to be so close to
the freeway for an early start the next morning. I didn't hear jake brakes so much but my neighbors kept going into their car at all hours and I kept
hearing the chirp of the automatic car locks. You can't get rid of rude neighbors.
After I got into car trouble an hour south the next day and got towed back to El Rosario, I needed help. I got caught up with a bandito mechanic but
I had no choice, I had to leave my car there. When I got home to Mulege, I needed to have someone tow the car back to San Ysidro and sought Nomad
help to do so. Someone on Nomad alerted Antonio from Baja Cactus and he not only towed it back north for me, he did it willingly and for his gas
cost. When my friend went to pick up the car in the States, Antonio wouldn't accept payment for his time and effort. My friend really tried to get
him to take some sort of consideration and after much effort, Antonio finally took a donation for his cause...the Bomberos in El Rosario.
BOTTOM LINE:
I prefer to spend my money and time with people who care. Antonio did me a really big favor and he is a good man. I would spend my money with him
ANY DAY OF THE WEEK and I would highly recommend that anyone who wants or needs a hotel will consider the Baja Cactus in their travels. These are the
people who make Baja adventuring great! You may need a tow one day, you may need the Bomberos one day. Aren't you glad there are groups founded by
guys like Antonio? Aren't you glad they're funded so they have resources to help people who need their services? Have you considered what they do
for the Baja 1000 that passes through and the car fires that are inevitable? Aren't you willing to spend your money with people who CARE about their
communities and travelers? I personally don't care if the hotel down the street has a pool and free car washes, I'm spending my money where it goes
back into the community and if you want people who care and help others to succeed, put your money there.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Nicely said Cocomo!
As for the rooms, there are still a few of the original rooms from before the new motel project of about 13 years ago, they are ground level and
across from the office. If they are sold out of the "new" rooms, they will do fine and are on par with the other motels. If you can, do check out the
newer rooms and be really amazed, considering where you are.

Antonio has done so much good for the community and for us as travelers...have stayed there many times over the years and hope to support more of his
humanitarian projects in the near future....Life is short-help when you can. He has been there in times of trouble for so many.

Just saying different strokes. Have no issue with the work that Antonio does. Just would rather stay elsewhere.
