Quite the opposite Jim. Because I am of Russian descent I have met many Russians and can detect a Russian off the street. I have struck up conversations with Russian /American waitresses in Russian who were amazed that I knew them. Can you do that? After listening to his records he has no accent whatsoever. If you come here before the age of say 8 you can lose it altogether so I can't say for sure he isn't but the last name means nothing. He's about as Russian as Monica Lewinsky, or any other ...ski.

Singers can learn to sing songs in a 2nd language without an accent. I've listened to singers sing in a foreign language and they didn't have a clue what the lyrics meant, but they reproduced the sounds perfectly. They mimic what they hear when a native singer sings the song. In a way, their voice is a musical instrument.

I did listen to it before I posted. I didn't hear any accent but like I said, singers can do that if they have a recording to mimic.

If that's an original, previously unrecorded song, then ......... nevermind. ;)

I had an Iranian coworker who had no trace of accent despite coming to the US at 15. I was really surprised, so I asked. His parents paid for a tutor for 2 years to get it rid of it entirely.

Oh, and while I still remember. Go Giants!!!!
