thats great local law enforcement is randomly patrolling the area, but unfortunately when the bad guys see the good guys drive off and know they won't be back for hours...well you get the idea. sad that these days paradise has to be protected with bars, deadbolts, cameras and alarm systems :( but its not going away. invest in professional electronic gear, these days most home owners can install wireless components themselves (with a little programming advice) or have a professional come out for the install.

No need for a professional installer for wireless camera systems. They are exceedingly simple.

Lighten-up mr. chuckie and play nice. The idea here is to do something. Most folks have a concern and try to be constructive. You on the other hand, sit in the "MUD" (your signature) and give "MUD".
We are getting two full time guards, not cops but their being here may catch some of these robbers. I think this will be much more productive and being a part of the community it will be nice to have them here. The municipality is covering this and I'm really happy that they are getting involved here. :light: We also now have a neighborhood watch that went into action last night. I'm impressed by their action, fast response and numbers that were involved.

Many have lived in that "dream world" for many years without issues.

There's whatever deterrent factor that comes with a video system. The system alerts the owner immediately of the break-in. It also saves video of the perpetrators so they can be identified and caught. Given the relatively recent occurrence of this issue, there's presumably a limited number of perpetrators.

a combination of the above is surely the way to go:

cameras so you can catch them in action

paid guards who randomly patrol

neighborhood watch

keeping the police involved

good luck Chivato!

In Mulege there was a ''resident thief'' nick-named Koki (last name withheld on purpose) who, when not in jail, would burgle the town blind, Anglo or National, didn't matter. When he'd get temporarily locked up the thieving would cease until his connected family would arrange his release, then it would start all over again, in town and on all the beaches on the bay.

About 5-7 years ago he was out and on a real tear ripping off the community.... there was a big stink raised about it on the internet and in the community. The 'movers and shakers' of the town had their fill of him, and apparently when Koki got arrested on a murder rap the Elders of the town pooled monies together and paid Koki's attorney to KEEP him in prison.... call it reverse mordida, and it worked. They knew it was destroying their economy and running people off. Not saying there is no more crime there, the meth epidemic is Baja-wide now unfortunately.

Point being, the resident Nationals have to get involved in their community too. It's not just an Anglo problem any more. Unlike certain Stateside political factions, we're all in this game together. Same thing happened years back in San Lucas too. A local meth head was known to the community for being the main culprit in a series of burglaries. He was warned, but didn't listen... the addiction was too strong, so as the story goes a couple of local gendarmes 'arrested' him one night but didn't take him to jail; took him out on the desert and whooped him within an inch of his life; he went sober immediately, got a job, quit his life of crime and is now a respected citizen of their community albeit being a little bit ..... slower..... than he used to be.

A camera can help identify the perp, but you need participation to make it stick. Good on Chivato community for organizing and not just demanding whatever. It's obviously a 'Koki' or a small ring of Koki's, and pretty local too as they know the lay of the land.

Happy hunting. ;)

My neighbor here says a van was found stuck in one of the sand washes north road to San Bruno a few days ago. Van had a bunch of Punta Chivato stuff in it. But nobody in the van, van owner not around.

Did you hear that Russ? We just rode through there yesterday, no van. But lots of sand. Hope the cops nail the guy soon.

MulegeAL ~ Nope. I asked around here and no one else heard any thing about the van. My question is how did the person you talk to know the stuff was from Chivato and why, if not reported, wasn't it reported? If you have any more info on the van would you forward it to me? ~ U2U ~ everyone please ask friends and neighbors to report any suspicious activities to the police. Palo Verde police dial 911 (that maybe from a local phone). Others 113 and info will be reported to local police. I realize that getting evolved can be a real hassle so call me 949-732-8081 and I'll see that any info is passed on. Thank you for your report! And everyone else for their concern and ideas.

KaceyJ, Garage fire ... started by the new type batteries. Local workers discovered it and went into action. Lots of smoke damage but fire was contained to the battery area.
Cops actually pulled in my place last night and shined a light around.

Hey Russ , Thanks

That's is unfortunate yet good news
