There is a sign alerting to the gift shop on highway 1, but I have never taken a photo of it.
We went to the prison years ago and it was quite overwhelming. Being Brazilian I told the guys who were trying each to yell louder than the other to
hush it or Les was gonna backtrack and not let me buy a thing. They quieted down pretty quickly.
Their abalone items are GORGEOUS. I have bought some of their heart shaped abalone boxes, quite exquisite as a gift.
The sign indeed says there is a gift shop now, but we have never been there. I am sure it is less intimidating than a bunch of guys with some art and
craft in their hand, yelling at you to buy from them!

I can confirm a sign sighting as well.
Drove by a few hours ago and it is on the west side of the road, looks to be about about 3’x5’, weathered and peeling, but does say
“Cereso....Artesanias” and some other words that were hard to d cipher at highway speed.

Hi Larry, and thanks... but I asked the question over a year ago... Wish you
saw this back then!
I did make it for English readers of my road guide (as well as anyone on Baja Nomad, of course). The word Mission is in English, on purpose. Thank you
for the Zacarías correction... I think I wrote down what was on the road sign and either there wasn't an accent on it or I blew it?
