You would be surprised! A lot of people just go driving without reading Nomad or guidebooks first and EXPECT a gas station every 25-50 miles!

In the first years of Hwy. 1 there was a Pemex station (between El Rosario and Villa Jesus María) at San Agustin, Cataviña, Parador Punta Prieta
(L.A. Bay jcn.), and (Nuevo) Rosarito. Their ghostly structures are still along the highway.
Poor ejido management of sales income, lack of a local labor pool, no secure armored car money pickup, are some reasons why they failed.

Just think, now you don't have to worry about it. Besides, for years, Catavina has been a stopping/rest spot for many. Too bad Gotta Peso not
here to see it.

Tomatoes are merely a part of their complex, multinational, vertically integrated cash machines. Maybe they could add a laundry mat to their stores
for their traveling customers convenience?
For those who head west from Cataviña and have not upgraded their vehicles stock fuel capacity with an aftermarket option, a fuel station there would
be most welcome.

Memories....Pemex across the road from the hotel, and later the pump at the hotel. After the hotel pump was closed the desk clerk could always arrange
gas. I remember a small kid who hung out at the Pemex who could do complicated math in his head.
Later on there was a tire shop for a short time.
I never really needed gas at Cataviña, but topped of anyway.

I needed that Catavina gas once. Was so happy to get it.
Super bad area to run out. Almost did. No please to get off highway.
I was starting to lose it a little cause I had been on the road to long...

Fishbuck, what are you talking about, - no place to get off highway. I was driving a compact car with small tires and low clearance a few times.
Every 10-20 miles there was a place to get off the highway.
El Rosario to BOLA or Pta Prieta takes ~1/2 of a small tank. More gas if you don't drive smart. Those washboard hills/curves near El Rosario will eat
your fuel if you're flying, breaking every few seconds and then again accelerating. Doesn't take a guide book or road knowledge, - only a common
sense.

Will be good for motorcyclists,like me. My KLR will easily get from El Rosario to Jesus Maria but my Suzuki GSX1100g only has about 170 mile range at
best. When riding it I always have to buy gas from barrels where ever it is available. Many bikes do not have 200 mile range.

Tell that to the people who have ridden around the world on one (or two in the case of my wife and I) We're currently on two 650's. Started in
Germany, now Kazakhstan heading to Mongolia and then Vladivostok.
When on the moto I've always taken advantage of the gas at Catavina or BoLA turn-off. Future trips won't be the same with a regular gas station there.

Looks like it will be a convenience store and gas station. I stopped in a couple of weeks ago. Big selection of goods and they are grilling-up food.
Brilliant idea.

Where is the gas station in Punta Prieta? |
Gas from cans sold at the L.A. Bay Junction (Parador Punta Prieta, Km. 282/Km. 0) and the town of Punta Prieta at the store on the north side, Km.
12.5, west side of the highway.
