We went from the Hwy 1 Chapala turnoff to Mexicali July 2017 in a Dodge Magnum (very low clearance, that big tope in Guerro Negro is always a challenge), a bit slow going but no problems. i think it was about 90 minutes to get from Hwy 1 to Gonzaga. The vados north of Gonzaga were much worse, but I understand they are working on that section now.

I think you will be fine. There are sand tracks on the side of the road that are smooth, if your car has low clearence there will be some spots where ya just go slow and easy.

I've been driving Porsches for 50 years. I wouldn't take mine but it's not impossible.

If you have a small spare and need it you won't like it.
Learn where the closest tire shop is to Coco's.
You'll need it.

The tire shop is at Laguna Chapala, where the road to Coco's meets Hwy. 1, across the highway (Km. 233.5).

Fishbuck won't be able to use that llantas shop as the guy there has about 15 Dogs running around......
Woof Woof !!!

Since I've given up all hope, I feel much better
