Interesting this discussion and the one regarding North's routes and the route from San Ignacio to Santa Rosalia touch each other, kind of.

The map from North's trip (map DK posted and added here)



C S Miguel there in 1906 - certainly by 1910 - upper right corner - when the edition I have was published.

Yes, ranches and camps are frequently named for nearby geographic points, peaks, and arroyos.
