It should be good for your kayak. Even if the wind is blowing, there are some mangrove lagoons that might be fun. The "hard way" to B.O.L.A. is my
route of choice, love that road! |
What is this "Hard way" route you speak of? |
I was quoting fishbuck (out of context), that was his description of reaching San Francisquito driving south from B.O.L.A., not mine.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

L.A. Bay south is an easy way, and much much shorter drive. There is one grade south of San Rafael to climb. It was rough but no biggie in 2017.
Reports the past year say the road graders had made it very nice. So, until the next hurricane, it is easy. The El Arco road is excellent all the way
when I drove it in June 2017. Some of the fastest graded roads in Baja.
Here is my map that shows Bahía de las Animas followed by maps thjatb show the rest of the drive to Punta San Francisquito and the El Arco road from

If your goal is yellowtail, you can fish that in sq and skip the hellashious heat of july in sq
Kayak fishing is more fun than fishing from panga, suggest you just kayak fish and be happy with just farting around on a kayak and whatever you
happen to catch.
Probably better kayaking weather in sq (bola gets a bit windy)

I still want to go out there. I have be to Las Animas by boat and fished it some. There are a few Pinecles. But a good way off the beach.
I remember a big rocky point. A reef.
I know I can get to these fish on my own eventually.
But this time I need local knowledge and a boat.
I would love to fish the big island front side. But that takes the bigger pangas.
The 31are the best but cost the most.
Maybe we can kayak Las Animas after I get my yellow tail.
Camp 1 night or something there.
Save San Francisquitos for another trip. Down Raptor Road (Los Arcos).
I got to have a decent inflatable for that I think.
The big panga can fish 4 easy. So maybe that's the magic number.
These boats get booked up so it takes planning...
Let's go catch some yellowtail and cook them on the beach at Las Animas.
You make civeche.
I'll make the tacos.
Or all the sushimi you can eat...

Mike, hook up with one of the Nomads at Camp Gecko, perhaps?
They go out for yellowtail pretty regularly in the summer.
Camp Gecko is about 4 miles south of town but make the arrangements before going. It is a private residential compound now and until you do something
with your hair, you may scare the hell out of anyone not expecting you!
If all else fails... Mia just posted this fishing guide link on her L.A. Bay Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cangrejosoficial/

I usually don't fish San Quintin until Aug. 1 or later.
But the bluefin had swam thru theee so it was worth a try and I got my 1 bottom fishing trip of the year out of the way.
I'm waiting for the magic kelp patties about 10 miles out on a hot August day.
BOLA is where it's at for yellows right now.

You put a date on a calendar yet Fishy? I'm coming from Oakland and need to plan a little to get there. The So Calers are probably gonna swarm Bahia
around the 4th so a boat may be difficult.

If fishy visits camp gecko, off his meds as he appears to be, he will fit right in,... haircut will not be alarming to that crowd,... camp gecko is
kind of a land of misfits and drunks (and unstylish hair) (stay classy!), relatively speaking, eh?

Don't worry Don, please.
I know Baja and the kind of people I will find there.
And thank you for your concern Dr. Goat.
I always get what I need and some of what I want...
But yeah, I'm still hustling my fishing trip. Maybe something going on Bloody Decks...
You can ride with me and share gas or I will meet you there. Or we can caravan if you don't drive too fast. I save gas if I can.
Bring heavy gear!

You name it. I'll be there!
July 10th has been mentioned.
Anybody got a phone number for a July 10 yellowtail? I'd like to make a reservation for 2... +

The 10thish could be ok. I know a diver in Bahia, let me email him and see if he's around.

Yellowtail are in San Quintin. And all the way to Santa Catalina Island.
So maybe no need to drive across...

Yep.
Wide open surface yellowtail in San Quintin. And two absolute whale WSBs...
I'm late for BOLA and the Pacific is early this year.
So I might not get across...
