That's a good price if it's all rebuilt. My auto trans in my Ranger cost ~$3200 to rebuild about three years ago. No issues at all, but I change trans fluid regularly,

No, that is for other applications, but not mine. I have found othersupplers that list the version that I need, but so far, when I contact them the unit is out of stock. I am still waiting for an answer from the site that Harald provided.

I found a replacement Trooper for $3400, so I will probably start getting it beefed up for future trips. I look forward to pinstriping it as thoroughly as I did the last one!

The problem with the way this transmission is set up, is there is no dip stick to check the level and condition of the fluid. The only way to check it is by crawling underneath the truck to drain a bit out, and remove a plug so you can blindly pump fluid back in until it runs out!

To drop the pan requires putting a jack under the output end and removing the cross member. I will definitely do that with the replacement rig before I head south in it.
