The typed word
So this is determined by some posters that it ought to be an adult forum? I believe I read that BajaNomad suggests he tries to moderate it to be a
sort of PG-13. A bit of a difference I'd offer.
So, where do the "objectional" phrases fit in? Since some use quotaion marks to emphasize their words "...F..." or whatever, that makes it ok? That
makes the posting a PG-13?
My view is that Yankeeirishman's thought - that it ain't hard to refrain from using particular words on this forum has merit.
Perhaps those who use words, phrases, and expressions that Yankeeirishman and others feel might be inappropriate for the younger readers feel that
they are the staunchest supporters of free speech. Maybe so.
I, for one, do not feel it is a free speech issue at all (at least not in this forum). Perhaps now that there is a beginning to acknowledge the fact
we have younger readers, and "cleaning up" the words and phrases can be deemed as more of a courtesy than anything else.
Still, I suppose there will be the posters who have no concern for younger readers, or may feel that these youngsters better get with it and just deal
with whatever and wherever words and phrases appear.
There are other ways to express displeasure or disapproval of a position.
Are there those who believe that the use of these "objectional" words displays the best in mature writing skills?

John M you are correct in some ways . some people like you and I don't use what I call bad words in our every day life and so we don't use them to
express our selves here either. so in that way other people kind of know where we are coming from. But other people use a More colorful language in
their every day life and so to express themselves in writing a story they use this stile.I like it they use there own words when writing I get to know
and understand them better . It is just like reading a book or watching a movie it is hard to find even a pg movie that doesn't use bad words. I was
raised in a family where no bad words were tolerated and yet it was all around me . my Friends the movies the books everywhere. but it was only the
influence of my family that kept me from speaking in that way not that I was kept from it. we tend to blame every thing else when one of our kids
turns out to speak badly or use drugs or rob banks but I am a strong believer that it is all in how we raise our children that forms there adult
habits.to many people think that the schools or the Churches or some one else is supposed to teach these things and that is soooo wrong.
if you don't want them to do bad things then you must set the example and also give your children tones of Love not money.

I don't see what the issue is
with Yankees posts.
And one of the differences I have noticed living in Mexico and having humans as friends is that we are able to discuss everything (as best I can)
without censorship. These people are well aware of what goes on in the world and rather than ignore it or pretend it isn't going on, they discuss it.
Sometimes with me.
I think that one of the main things that went wrong with the americans is pretending the problems aren't there, (not my kids) or (not in my
neighborhood) for example.
As far as the parenting goes, I think it's better to be aware, make your kids be aware, and discuss the reasoning behind your feelings out in the
open. Like the Mexicans do. Sure seems to bring their families together. At least the ones I know.
As far as the swearing goes, I only do it when I know I shouldn't or some tucker peees me off and I can probably get a reaction from some on
here But in real life, I find it fairly disgusting, even being in construction
for the majority of my life!
It really isn't ncessary to prove any points.
What we should be more concerned about is the chicken coup group and the rumours they like to spread. ********************

Bad manners, are bad manners IMHO....the whole "it's just a word" seems silly to me and an excuse for not investing in a dictionary to learn how to
better express oneself. Again, just MHO.....
I understand Wilderones request (I think)....he would like his son to learn from this board, (there is much to learn) but, doesn't want him to hear
the foul mouths and the ugly bickering and learn from that part, that if the 'adults' do it, it must be okay. As far as I read he didn't put anyone
down, he didn't insist, it seemed to me that he was bringing it to the attention of the people here to remind them that in fact children DO read here
and we want to be an example of the good and not the ugly I do have Brendan (age 11) read here sometimes, but, I have to admit.....not until I've
read something first......the only place he goes online alone (with me in the wings) is the online chess site.
I have to admit also, I'm confused?????? JR? Just what are you talking about the "hicken Coup Groupers?" As you know, I'm close friends with Mike
H. and Maryann and I'm not in the "loop" on what the problem is...could you explaine please (U2U, would be best, thanks....)

Emphasizing ????????????the word ?please?.
My Kids...read here too!
You know?I have a great ten year old that?s sooooo hyped up about Baja. He loves to browse here. My two grandkids read here too, but only once in a
while do they read the forum. The fishing pictures are what little Nicky goes for. Oh?and the camping stories that are here?he loves em too.
So now my point to this post here?. PLEASE refrain from doing partial letters, or insinuations of the word, and whatever else you deemed to be a
submitter for the harsh words of the ?F? words.
Please! Be cool. You got to understand if your a parent.
As you read this passage (above) quietly to yourself, certain parts of your brain are working to try to make sense of different aspects of the
information contained in this text. The word PLEASE is emphasized. Not a shadow of a demand is in sight. No hint of threat within. Just a pleasant
word was used?.?PLEASE?.
To improve your (pointed towards some of you less educated humans here) vocabulary, one simple way is just to use cue cards, and on those cards
write one word, the meaning of the word, as well as perhaps a sample sentence of that word. Carry that cue card around with you. Look at it at odd
moments. Try to use it in your mind during the day some time. Hopefully, by the end of the day, you'll be quite familiar with that word.
To say my son (and other kids in this world) already uses the [word], is truly falsehood, and a lack of attention in your little self contained
world. There are kids, and adults that do not use the [word]! Your kid may use the word?but my kids don?t. In fact?. there far more non users of the
f word that the ones that do use it. Get out of you seclusions of false reality ?
Do you ever see the f word used in the Bible? Perhaps when you order a steak at Black Angus?your waitress says?I?ll be right with your [word]ing
order in a moment! How bout you with that restaurant in Oregon?you (the Boss) allow the help to use this language? Ever hear it at Disneyland? Most
novels? No.
I do monitor what my kid reads. I try too, that is. I was asking for some help here from all of you. Guess that was too much for some of you to deal
with. Too bad...on your part of being a good Nomad.
To some of you that have taken this very simple request and turned it into a load of misconception that fits you twisted mindsets, here:
Getting the Big Picture
?Read through ambiguity and confusion.
?Read ahead to see if confusion clears up.
?Review the big picture to check comprehension.
The BajaNomads Forums is indeed being editing of the ?freedom of speech?. Everyday! What ya call PG13? The ?RULES? of this board has so many
restrictions on your freedom?its not totally free speech here! HELLO? It?s called restriction of your literary rights! Heck?I can restrict your post
replies by just deleting the entire post?and repost again! Editing your free speech. Get a life! Last to say I have. ?Some of you really have kids? Or
are you just flaming for a subject?!
eetdrt88 .....thanks for the u2u. You are excluded from these words here.
C'om Flamers and trollers! Lets light it up here with your pity responses!

I think it's more of a Denny's
" Perhaps when you order a steak at Black Angus?your waitress says?I?ll be right with your [word]ing order in a moment!"
type statement rather than Black Angus but I could be misteakin.

NOW you're getting somewhere!
Good old-fashioned Jewish guilt. I was raised on it.
Now if you would just dress up like my mother and lay it on thick, you just might have a convert.
<And while you're at it, make me some meatloaf just like she did...dry and tasteless.>

There is absolutely nothing on this board that comes even close to the harshness of the profanity shared among the boys in my neighborhood when I was
young. To me, this site is an adult setting where you generally don't cuss unless it's called for.

Meatloaf
That must be the same recipe my mom used. At least it wasn't as bad as the liver and onions. Ugh.
I think Yankee meant "pithy," meaning "precise and meaningful." I was going to take that as a compliment on the post explaining my point of view on
Yankee's request, but I don't think I qualify as either a troll or a flamer. According to the Cambridge Dictionary, those are defined as follows:
Troll (COMPUTING)
verb [I or T] - to leave an intentionally annoying message on a part of the Internet in order to get attention or cause trouble: "His hobby is
trolling for newbies."
noun [C] - "A well-constructed troll will provoke irate or confused responses from flamers and newbies."
Flame (COMPUTING)
verb [T] SLANG - to send an insulting electronic message over the Internet about someone who you disagree with:
"Please don't flame me if you disagree with this message."
noun [C] SLANG - an angry or offensive email: "flame wars"

Actually............
I considered, but rejected "Pithy" because it would have been complimentary.
Perhaps he meant "Pitiful". That would be more in keeping with the character of his words.
Quien sabe ?
