Yes, it was funny... but since this is an English/ U.S. forum, knowing the date meant 'April Fools' it would have not caused any anguish...
I guess everyone who reads this will now remember to not believe anything outrageous a Mexican posts on Dec. 28th... any more than to believe anything
an American posts on April 1st... |
It's an English, do you mean language or from England. What would that have to do with Dia de los Inocentes?
US forum? Should I or other mexican loged on posters not post something so mexican wich is Dia de los Inocentes? All I did was respond to someones "A
newby as you would call" question

Greetings, first post from this new nomad,
Any of you veteran nomads aware of today's Mexican holiday, "Dia de Los Innocentes"? From my brief searches, it has become Mexican version of April
Fools. Hoping to hear of local pranksters, above/beyond the usual entertaining & fun posts throughout Baja Nomad.
Thanks for the forum, the information and all of my new neighbors! |
The major thing I see here is who posted something outrageous was not mexican, it was FDT a US citizen
Come on just admit that you want a basket of candy Inocentre palomita. |
Ferna, what I was saying is this forum is in English created by an American and read mostly by Americans so for you to not be surprised when you get
negative comments about your fictional news post... BECAUSE WE (mostly) DIDN'T KNOW about Dec. 28 being 'April Fool's Day!
Now, go have a happy New Year!

I was taken in at first because I didn't read the thread until the 29th and hadn't noticed when it was posted.
I knew that the 28th was Dia de los Innocentes because I read the posts on this US based site. I think it was in the thread about Shari and her
dancing house.
I thought it was a good joke. It was a lot like the plastic bait I see fishermen using, just believable enough to get you hooked but not very tasty
once its in your mouth.

clarification
I think the way it works in Mexico is that when the shop says it will be ready "manana," it does not mean tomorrow, rather, "not today."
In terms of "Dia de los Inocentes," there is a bit of story, and "La Ley de Herodes" or Catch 22, if you will, so I just quickly learned to just chill
and take it in as a great way to learn about Mexican humor. Its a day where bosses and subordinates alike fool each other.
December 28 is a great day to buy the Mexican paper.
