Thomas, I'm not really to sure. I thought it was a green jack but the mouth and eye placement don't look quite right.

Igor thats the only fish I ever caught that could swim backwards with the exception of some large eels we caught in the Philipines at night on

By the way the dorsal fin of the bigjaws have some very painful stuff in them,careful when handling,can hurt a bunch!

Pipefish.
You can see them off the pier at Escondido. They have an itty bitty mouth. I don't know how they're caught at all. They're a kid's fish, really.
You're right - it's a kick to see them swim backwards. They must have a low IQ.

This Yellow was in less than 2 feet of water. As it was the last day of our vacation last year, he got set free......
Sure was fun bringing him in though 
Note the Pelicans in the background waiting for more small fish to be driven up.
