:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Don't get him started, Bob! He's like the Energizer Bunny when it comes to ToyTalk.

BTW, there is scuttlebut around about Toyota introducing a small displacement diesel in trucks in the next year or two.

Bob... if all the Nomads saw this and voted, then we would really know who drives what.

You are not going to make a decision on what's best for you based on a popularity contest, are you? It should be the best product for the job you need.

I am happy that Ford has done so well... They are the smartest U.S. car company (not taking money for Washington) afterall!

Buying a truck should not be done like how a president is picked.... don't let the popularity hysteria of any one car brand push you to make a bad choice. :light:

Research the features you need in a truck and then listen to/ read how the truck has performed.

Exactly!

If Neal Johns sees this and gets his Desert Explorers to vote, then Toyota will take the lead, I believe!

driven many, all worked fine: VW vanagon, VW jetta, saab 9-3, toyota 4runner, subaru outback, as long as they got tires and ignition turns on, they all seemed to drive same as they do in the USA. were you expecting them to drive differently in mexico because of language or cultural differences?

best performer was VW jetta, blew the doors off the other cars. suvs and vanagon suck for traveling long highways, clunky beasts. 2wd sedans are slower on unpaved roads, but faster overall because most time is highway time.

06 Taco with full off-road package, including full skid plate!

Haven't introduced it to Baja yet but it loved Death Valley gully-jumping and canyon climbing! Even got the chance to pull a couple of Jeeps out of the deep sand.

See you in Feb 2010! :bounce:

No, one should do careful research as to what is the best truck for Baja and one's other needs, and then just like our current President was elected, the far superior choice will win.

For our current needs, our 2003 Tundra has done very well for us---but it is not built to haul very heavy loads or pull heavy trailers.

But right now, even with 140,000 miles on it, it is performing well and is paid for.

What's your mileage?

Based on research from the SoCal Powerstroke forum, it seemed there was disparity in who got good mileage and who didn't in Ford trucks. It seemed like half of those with diesels got mileage in the low teens no matter what they did to improve things.

My PS diesel get's 19 highway, consistently, and 14 in town, empty except for a 360 pound 5th wheel hitch in back.

I do not worry about mileage. Just needed a truck that would do the job for me... and the F250 V-10 does it!

Bob is right, don't worry about the mileage, I have the HEMI in my truck and i get 13m/hwy and about 10m/city, but when i go to Baja it takes me everywhere, i don't worry about the gas..

On that theme, make sure the truck you pick does what was promissed in all the pre-purchase advertising and not take over your life... Also, that it doesn't end up costing you THREE times more than the debt the last truck added to your life!:light::lol:

Prious to Asuncion this year, did good on washboard, sand and everything but the big topes in Guerro negro and the steep drop offs between the highway and dirt slopes in several towns (clearance issue). Fantastic ride, trouble free, fuel efficient, few emissions and carried a big load of stuff to take down to friends (old and new). Locals loved the display of electricXgasolina engine.

Wonderful, relaxed trip.. I do miss my FJ 40 a bit though, I'm just too old for it in the joints...
