Phoenix. Seems that is where all the Canadians retire to and they are poorer than Americans.

You are so right. And I hear the surfing, diving and tuna fishing is awesome in Arizona!

Yet, an early report appears today to be sure we don't miss it, from Mexicorn, a "new member" poster who also happens to be monitoring the police scanner and posting here on BN?

What are the chances of all of this happening? And a report is immediately processed by the local paper? Slim chance. Who are Dana Littlefield and freelance journalist Omar Millán González?

Do you Nomads think it is odd?

Good point Ron. I suppose people who are looking for a cheap place to retire when their social security kicks in at age 66 have surfing and diving as the number 1 and 2 priorities on their list.

I often wonder if you ever engage your brain in gear before you post one of your snappy retorts.

Speaking of that possibility, how about this editorial:

"Turnabout Not Fair Play—Gringos Don’t Get Free Medical Care In Mexico"

How's that for a hijack? I'm learning the ropes from the best here.

Can't say any about all the other, but when we drove over to the SENTRI pass station in Calexico, I saw between 6-8 Highway Patrol cars, Crown Vic's, 4 Ford Expeditions also Highway Patrol. An added checkpoint at just before you drop down to the desert, with at least 15 personal present. Plus four sites off the Hwy, which had INS SUV's. Also saw for the first time the "fence" which has been built approximately 1-3 miles south and parallels Hwy 8. I forgot to mark them on my GPS, but would guess the visible fence from the Hwy to be 3-4 miles in length.

It's been a long while since I drove from SD to El Centro, but the changes were to me quite significant.

Appeared to be as close to a military op as the State of California and the Federal Government could make it..:lol::lol:

Isn't ironic that 'the team' attack reasonable skeptics, with the idea we need a psychiatrist for those who ask questions or who raise skepticism, no skepticism shall be tolerated is their message.

What is ironic to me, is that Sigmund Freud is the father of behavioral psychology and his nephew, Edward Bernays is the father of propaganda, whose techniques have been used extensively to destabilize politics and play upon people's irrational fears.

You may be interested in Sigmund Freud's and Edward Benays' significant role in overthrowing the Banana Republics and practically all political action. The human psyche is the center of the political will which must be led along.

The Century of the Self is a important movie about Bernays and his impact on on how politics and actions play upon our fears to manipulate the masses.

You MAY be right about the title, gnu.........in my 21 years in the military and 34 in law enforcement, I would call it
"Defensive Suppresive Fire".............but I'm sure that wouldn't have the sales appeal as "Shootout"

In a perfect world

No disaggrement with the statement

"Who will govern the governors?" There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government."

Would you mean "American Idol" ?:lol:

As a point of reference let's come back to this story in months to come, (if anyone remembers) I predict there will be no Mexicans proven guilty of any crime. Just as the case of the Trolley Car arrests in SD where many were arrested and none found guilty, or the airport searches which was also highly promoted to incite fear, no smugglers or contraband were found. Those stories are produced for their meme not their ability to reduce actual illegal immigration and contraband.

And, if I may point early on, as this story was reported here, I predicted the steps and style of posts which would follow from Arrowhead and Mexitron and I was spot on. And they continue with support from many here.

Perhaps we can accept that there is and has been a broad and well funded media machine across media and militias that promotes memes to manipulate politics. Certainly, today there is a strong and well funded force to discourage rational thought and skepticism as "insanity", even 'psychology today' jumped-the-shark with an article to claim people who question official conspiracy theories are delusional. Note the meme: skepticism = insanity. These Orwellian manipulations of words are minor examples of Big Lie, for example, the peace keeper weapon, or carbon credit, and in this case shootout = using cars as weapons.

Good take, things always look a little different over a short period of time... in some cases..:lol::lol:

You guys are better than my Law and Order, many thanks... great topics and great input from all.. Oh, is dueling allowed in Mexico?

When your in the "war zone" these "natural" instincts rise to the occassion!... I could go on and on but, I"ll let the "experts "mold the story... for us though,... we'll have yes, TWO more pacificos please... party on flockers... love...

Love to have seen the chaos of the moment, Paul. Had to be a laugh seeing everybody goosing the gas pedal in a panic sort of way, just like bumper cars. Must have been a hoot.

By the way, Paul..........Panic in a war zone is lethal. Gotta keep your wits about you. No sense in not knowing why your life just came to an end.
