What a snakepit. This isn't even cartel stuff. It's just garbage people doing what they know they can get away with because nobody is allowed to
defend themselves. Defending yourself is against the law. Volunteering to live in this atmosphere should be against the law as well.

Dennis, If Mexico does NOT allow "Defensa Propia" then they will just have to put me in jail if I injure or kill someone in Mexico defending myself
against an attacker. I will defend myself to the fullest extent possible at the time of confrontation. One or both of us may not make it back home
after the confrontation. I refuse to go gentle into that goodnight because they are probably going to kill me anyway. F-That!!! Go down with a fight!

Picked up El Mex at the border. They are today reporting " asaltdos varios turistas extranjeros" (assaults of tourists from other countries) as well
as domestic (homes) and business robberies in Rosarito Beach. They say the crimes are mostly being done by delinquent drug addicts for money to buy
drugs.
No new details in the article, just a general admission of some crimes against tourists. Still nothing in any US press - maybe hey don't want to
cause a "security alert".
whoop, whooop, whoop - security alert! (help animate that elvistigator!)
The wife dropped some bedspreads off at the local lavamatica and the lady working there had the gate locked- she was robbed last week.

The economy got decidedly worse in 2009 in the US, yet crime dropped 20% in San Diego last year.

Mood: Enjoying Life with Wife In Mexico, Easy on The Easy

I don't drive or take anything worth dying for in Mexico, as long as they let me and the wife to go on our way they can have whatever they are big
enough to take. I can always replace things and get more money but I cannot get another that I care so much for that I would do something stupid to
cost her or my life. I will not get in a car to be taken as a kidnap victim nor allow her to be taken, in that case I guess I hope my skills are good
enough to at least let her get away and what the heck maybe just maybe me. Nobody knows what they would really do with a gun pointed at them until it
happens then you know, not a very good feeling and I assure you that the taste you get in your mouth you will remember for life when it happens. Hope
everyone stays safe but throw your keys and money as far as you can in these situations and both of you run the other way to hopefully what will be
freedom. Again, stay alert and focused and may God keep all of us safe when we are in Mexico. Later bajafun777

Here's the report in El Mexicano about the meeting with expats in Rosarito. I'd translate it for you, but it is a waste of time. It really
doesn't say anything...more like a big circle-jerk. Since Mexicorn said he was going to the meeting and hasn't been heard from since, I'd guess Hugo
told him to STFU.

...and in the same paper on the same day, here is a news item that says there were seven robberies and armed assaults in Rosarito within an 11-hour
period.

Nice place, that Rob-Me-Arito. They should choose Ciudad Juarez for a sister-city.

Rosarito will do anything and everything it can to ensure Spring Break happens this year. I think the city should focus more on re-opening the closed
mega-clubs that were the tourist draw. Until Iggy returns, no one else will. He's the safety litmus test for merchants.
Imagine how bad the PR nightmare for Torres would be if he hadn't run out the Gringo Gazette when he did. Aside from alleged copyright issues, the GG
got booted for calling Torres and his followers out on their shady real estate dealings. Imagine what the Gringo Gazette would have done the past
two years with the violence and now the current crime spree. Still not content with no good news being printed, they have turned to bullying the
sailing clubs and media to report nothing bad (security alerts). Pretty soon they will run out of scapegoats and excuses and realize crime reporting
isn't the real problem, the crime is.

If that is a fact, many of the hate minded posters on this thread will not acknowledge it - their passion is to feel better by running their mouths
about how bad the world is.

Just wondering, because in my own little world I haven't heard much about armed carjackings down here in Rosarito.
So, is this thug that committed this atrocity a displaced cholo from Riverside sitting in Rene's parking lot, waiting to bring home a big prize in
order to get in good with his new crew in the Rosarito hood? |
Think this is the spot on.. or at least pretty darn close.. this is not the "usual suspects"
