Dennis,
I'm not comparing one loss or incident to another. A tragedy is a tragedy. My point is that the families deserve our respect.

With regard to forum members having experience about posting manners and cilivility, I'm just suggesting that there might be some variation. For example, when a climber decks (ground fall), there are likley 25, 50, 100, or 1000 other climbers who know him/her intimately. There are family and friends on the forum wanting support. I have yet to read where a family member or friend either requested or desired to hear about how much blood was on the rock.

Sounds like you enjoy a tight-nit, closed environment with emphasis on friendship, technique and perfection.
After being on this board for a while, you'll be able to see that tragedy in Mexican society, of which there is far too much, hardens an observers ability to show quiet compassion. It becomes a subject for open discussion and speculation probably because we have seen too often that's all there will be. We won't see the blood on the rock wall or the floor. We won't see or hear anything. We're only left to guess.........so that's what we do.

I have owned property in La Paz and lived much of my life here since 1987 and I am sick and tired of the mad rush by the power structure in this town to change it from a place that is safe for kids and retirees into something resembling Cabo San Lucas or some other hoarhouse resort, all in the name of "providing employment" for the messy masses from the mainland.

The kidnapping and brutalization of this little girl is a direct product of these policies pushing hyper-development.

I am sorry, I am deeply sorry, and sickened by the whole damn thing. As I said, I desperately hope I'm wrong about Lissette's fate. But the facts are that any kind of "happy" outcome of this situation is nil. And a lesson must be learned from it, that the insane rush for development here in La Paz is degrading the quality of life here in a way that affects everyone. We are losing something precious which, once lost, cannot be retrieved.

My apologies, my sympathies, and a big piece of my heart go out to that little girl's parents. But it's time to wake up and get real.

Amen.

Lisette - my prayers go out to you and your family.

The underbelly of Baja is getting bigger.

Most of us take our “rose colored” glasses with us to Baja, some just never take them off. Leaving them on risks becoming delusional, I’m sorry to say.

I hope this has a happy ending.

Praying . . . and hustling for donations . . . yeah, right . . .

I am in no way "hustling" for donations. I merely changed my signature to reflect the growth of my CD mission, which has increased from helping just Miss Sirena to helping the entire community. No one is making you donate or even gve it a second thought.

Not to hijack, and I'm sorry, but this insinuation insulted me. My family and I are praying for Lizeth's safe return. We can pray and help others at the same time.
With peace,
bajafam

Your website says you have a store in mexico.
"Cloth Diaper Mission ~ help me cloth diaper Bahia Asuncion, Baja California Sur. Bahia Bebe ~ my storefront for the Bahia (and beyond!), with cloth diaper service, RENTALS, and SALES!"
Looks like you are hustling donations too.

Again, I don't want to hijack this thread. I will be posting a thread explaining what I am doing very soon. It is still in the works.
The donations are for the fees to become a non-profit (The Cloth Diaper Mission)...to get this status costs money. The donations are also for the diapers, etc. to GIVE to families, such as what I did for Sirena, Adrian, and Izaak.
The other part (Bahia Bebe - the store, not yet built) is the for-profit side, which will provide the diapering service, and new items bought wholesale for this purpose. NONE of the donations will be going into this portion.

Sorry if the links are confusing, and if you feel I am hustling. Again, no one is asking you to donate. Just ignore the signature if that is the way you feel.
With peace,
Michelle
