which nomad recommended that "dump?"

p.s. did you ask to change rooms? also, sometimes pays to look at several rooms before accepting the room you want.

In January this year I saw a hotel on Riverol right across the terminal. "San Diego" if my memory doesn't fail me. Cheap-looking hotel.

I don't know whether this terminal ever closes. At 6 am it was open since my bus arrived at that time. I believe, there are buses stopping there almost all night through, every few hours. They might, of course, close it for a few hours.

It's between 10th and 11th street, but both the bus gate and the passengers entrance are on the Riverol, and this is where cabbies are.
