Part of the year. Mid-October through mid-May. Can get ridiculously hot June through September, and Aug-Sept is also humid. This is not subjective, locals feel the same only they have nowhere to go.

Groceries and hardware cost double due to remoteness (poor assortment too). When I mentioned to a local that this is "un precio de vida en Paraiso" - you should've seen a look on his face :)...

Camp Archelon is at the crossroads. Antonio's widow and very young son are in charge of the place now.

I drove from San Diego to Punta Chivato in one day once. Never again. It takes away from the journey. Now I take three days from Nor Cal. One advantage of being old and semi-retired. First day East Bay to San Diego. 2nd San Diego to El Rosario. Time to get FMM stamped, the red light (I always get the red but I don't care I don't have anything sketchy or illegal and it usually only takes two minutes). Stop at Walmart in Ensenada for goodies. 3rd Day El Rosario to PC. Lots of stops, especially the onyx store for curios north of Catavina. And of course fish tacos in Jesus Maria.
