David,
My Baja Bronco has 240,000 miles on it and it never left me stranded. It probably has 40.000 off road miles and has towed boats that weighed in excess
of 7,000 pounds.
Not one major problem, just the normal routine servicing. Presently it lives at my house in the Punta Banda area and I expect it to last many more
miles!

The truck broke down around Catavina and helped back to ER by TW. So, you're right, the hills between ER and Catavina were probably the toughest part
of the drive of the entire trip.

David -- Did I mention I was shopping for a Toyota? We got our moneys worth out of the Ford, but with kids moving on to college, we don't need the
mother-ship anymore. We are starting to downsize....

Unless they're doing it differently today, thermostats used to be
made to open/close based upon the liquid/solid state of a wax pellet (the wax coming in different compositions to melt at different temps,
160/180/etc).

THE SAGA CONTINUES .....
This morning I went to the autopartes to pick up the ordered cps - it arrived but was the wrong one ! I was one sad puppy.
Oh sorry senior, we don't carry THAT one, maybe 3 days.
Another quick call to FDT, a confirmed part number from my local Washington dealer to the SD ford dealer ....
Then the SD dealer wouldn't take my credit card over the phone cause they don't trust a single one of you California crooks.
Then I called my hometown Ford dealer parts department, gave him the credit card number, he called Ford in SD and now the part will be picked up and
put on another bus tomorrow by the wonderful Simone and FDT !
Scheduled arrival is 9 pm.
I will need to find the mechanic with the small hands again on Friday morning.
Check the Friday midday update, if it doesn't work this time, we will thumbing rides at the Pemex !!

I think this sensor goes to the gauge and possible to a secondary cooling fan - I never knew it was overheating until it starting loosing power. I
have checked since then, even when the truck eventually died climbing the hill outside of El Rosario and it was not overheated - just a little puff
when I opened the cap.
And David .... oh nevermind !

Skipjack and others,
Yes I have thought of trying to get some of us somewhere but with 2 dogs and 2 kids, there was just not a workeable solution. The kids are making the
best of it, biking through and around town, driving the folks at the Bajacactus and Mamas a little nuts with their walkie-talkie games and other fun
ideas. I was personally seen doing my labomba dance immitation to the cleaning ladies music this morning.
We are still planning to head south if all works well on Friday, otherwise this may become the vacation that never was.
Thanks to all of you friends and well wishers.
It actually DOES really help to have all of you Nomads to help and support us, or even just give us grief.

The funny thing about baja trips, Diver, is that you don't know how good they are until they're over. A lot has been said recently about the well
planned baja trip as a model for success. I have found that not to be true. What I'm trying to say is that years from now you and your family will be
fondly remembering this trip. Mark my words. It's the unexpected that makes life interesting and worth living. Look at baitcast. It's been what, 50
years, since he and his wife struggled to get over the Three Sisters on gonzaga and he's still talking about it. It's not the beautiful views or the
idealic weather that has survived all those years.

This is really over the top. We just don't believe it. Diver and family are stranded in El Rosario and you from this post on, make the thread about
you, your political beliefs, and lifestyle.
Gees, you were even in El Rosario and did you offer any help?
We are Toyota people through and through but our Tundra would not do well towing Diver's trailer. OK, it has towed a small trailer, but we don't have
two young children.
Your style of traveling is your style, your preference in trucks is your preference, your right wing politics are always present, but what does any
of that have to do with this thread?
Yes, David, you are a real nomad. You were in El Rosario and offered nothing, but now you are just smug over the performance of your Toyota. Our
Tundra with well over 100,000 miles is flawless, but so what??
Does that offer any help to Diver? Gee, Ira, (Diver) see if you can find a toyota in town and solve all your problems.
Diver, we arrived home safe and sound and are still thinking about you. While we hope things turn real positive real soon, if not, let us know and we
will drive down there and ferry your family back to San Diego so they can fly home, or stay here in Imperial Beach with us until your truck has
recovered.

Is there any chance that we can keep this about Diver and his problem? Maybe good suggestions as to the possible problem?
We are ready to head back down to pick him and or his family, wife, two kids and two dogs, if necessary---and through U2U we have offers of help with
this.

Besides the offer via u2u to help ferry the family back to the US, we have also had an offer from a former nomad to bring back the truck and trailer
with a flat bed. We have forwarded that e-mail to you.
Diver while you know that we really hope you make it down to Diverlandia in BA, we along with others are here and ready to bring you north if needed.

Diane, you are the only one staying sane in this whole thread! Maybe a few others but Ken and David K can back off for now. We've already seen all
of your pix of all of your trips (both of you!). This isn't a thread of who has the better Baja vehicle....#$%^ happens to everyone and sometimes the
vehicle just "no go" or no va as some of you may be more familiar with! Hope never to be in that sitch!

Before adding other stuff, I understood Diver got the part from Ferna... so I thought it was fixed.
Diane, we arrived at a full Baja Cactus parking area, we had NO idea any Nomads were there or were in trouble... I walked to the office and the clerk
said they were all full (even the commercial rooms) and told us to go to the Turista Motel... which we did. She did not tell us of any Nomads in need
of help... and she knew who I was (called me Sr. Dah-veed). If it was important, than maybe a sign taped to the front desk asking for help or for any
Nomads to go to Room #xyz would have been an idea... I would have gladly offered to help Diver, let alone just to meet him. Shame on you for that low
blow. How many of you stopped to offer help to a Mexican motorist? We did Saturday, north of Guadalupe Valley to an overheated car. We are good
American travelers, not the 'ugly' ones.
Frank, my wife is in a union, so I am not anti all unions... just the ones that put their demands ahead of a companies abilty to stay in business. It
is just silly... and sad that so many think because a company is big it can afford every demand put upon it. Obviously, they cannot.
Again, sounded like Diver was out of trouble... at least I hope so!

Sure wish I knew what Diver's current status and symptoms are.
I HAVE learned that Obama is the second coming of Christ, GWB is apparently not the Ricardo Cabeza I thought he was, unions are the cause of the poor
management at GM AND GMAC (didn't realize loan officers were unionized, lol!).
And Nomad are a pretty helpful lot, in a pinch..............
