Now that you/we all learned a lesson, the easy way, here is what I have done with my dog when we go to Mexico.

I have a special mexico collar that he has on when in Mexico. It contatins not only his nomal USA ID, but a tag I hade made up in Spanish with where he lives, the best Mexican phone #on it and also "GRANDE RECOMPENSA"
with his name on the tag. Naturally he is chepped but do not hold much hope that the chip would get us back togehter.

These are the tags we use, get engraving information on both sides.

Also have photos saved of the dogs and cat (taken from front and side) if necessary for the "wanted" posters.

A great ending to a not so excellent adventure. Good work, posters seem to work well! My dog slept for two days after returning. Good on the lady who scooped her up! Smiles. Tio

I came here second, to learn this news! My day starts with tears of joy. I am relieved amazingly enough.

Now, since my white cat brought in two dying Cedar Waxwings yesterday, Cathy put bells around her neck. My grey cat Goose, now thinks a strange cat has invaded her home, and has declared war on the bell wearing stranger. It is very unsettling for this human to see their confusion, anger, fear, and unhappiness around this change. They grew up sleeping in a pile together.

Whew, better than worrying about when the local militia will start the shooting war in the State of Jefferson, but still a worry.

I'm glad your day will be happier!

FANTASTIC! We are thrilled that Ruby is back where she belongs safe and sound.

Just to celebrate the good news, Tom and Maggie went for quick swim in the surf. Tom was lost once, but just for a VERY long afternoon, and Maggie was lost on the streets for who how long before we adopted her.

Hope you have a very big doggie treat for Ruby -- CELEBRATE

Great News!!

Last week I took my yellow lab to the mountains for a men's retreat with the words of my better half ringing in my ears...."Bring back that dog, or else"

So, I took 20 guys, plus dog, on a hike around Pinecrest Lake- Mali is an awesome hiker, especially with a lake alongside the trail.

Well, I was leading, she was in the back of the pack, lost track of me amongst guys she did not know, and peeled off to follow hikers headed the other way.

When I discovered she was 15 minutes missing it was Panic City!

I jogged all the way back to the starting point near the marina, and found her, just as she was about to merge into large masses of swimmers, picnic groups, etc.

Needless to say it was less than 30 minutes of real upset- so losing your pooch for days, then getting the dog back- Priceless!!!

I was told that there is no chip reader here in Los Cabos. So good idea.
I always worry when we take our pups to the states because their tags have our Mex phone info

Glad Ruby is back in the chair drinking Pacifico:saint:

A leash might be a good idea in the future...cheaper than a chip...and handy for those transition times when the pooch can get startled or disoriented...
