This morning I woke up just before dawn to hear the fisherman getting their gear ready. I was sweating in the humidity despite leaving all my windows
open to let the breeze through. I watched the sun rise from my tailgate, which motivated me to get out of the truck and shoot a few images from the
beach.
I took my time organizing my gear and set off to explore the town and decide if I would stay or go. Maybe even see some whale sharks (hopefully not
entangled in a Gonzaga gill net). First I stopped by the Brisa Marina, where the sea turtle hatchery is located. It was shut down and in disrepair.

Yes, Guillermo's is something of a rip off.
The old guy there is Herman Hill and his book is a good read.
I was not aware that the "turtle place", as I call it, is closed. To Bad.
If you get a chance to jump in with a whale shark, do it!

Herman's story is hilarious! He was the town drunk for decades and then a local gringo suggested that they cowrite his many stories- and now he is
something of a celebrity!
I had been staying at Guillermo's for 25 years. Every trip I would go out fishing on his boat and return to the hotel and he would cook the fish and
we would enjoy fish and chips and cold Pacificos overlooking the bay. He would charge half price for the meal since it was our fish. Then one season
he charged us full price for the meal even though we had just paid him $200 to take us fishing and the fish he was serving us was ours!!! Since then
we have been staying at Costa del Sol.

Too bad to hear that Turtle Station was closed. After Antonio had left the station, the government took over and they were running it for some time.
Yes, Bay of LA is an expensive place, considering level of service. It costs a bit to deliver everything here, and with slow business, strange as it
may sound, they have to charge even more in order to stay afloat. So I'm not surprised at high prices of Guillermo's (and pretty much anything that
you buy in this town).

Good observation. I had this feeling too, in the Bay of LA. Another guy called this "they don't like us there" (as opposed to Loreto and Mulege where
they, according to him, "like us"). The real reason is that they are too desperate and isolated in this town. Kind of trapped. And they think that
we/gringos are trapped too, and try squeezing out some more. Not all locals are like this, but rather prevalent attitude. TAD works with tourists.
Natural defense mechanism of other gringos is to use as little local products and services as possible, and bring as much as possible with them. A
no-win situation.
