Stop reading consumer reports for your source of information. Cars are of personal preference. You buy the car that ticks the boxes for what you're
looking for in a vehicle.
While I can't argue that Toyota quality may be decreasing, among all other car manufacturers, they still stand behind their work, and will stand up to
the plate with recalls, while other manufactures (especially domestics) will not admit to their mistakes.
I've owned Toyotas my entire life, I am a mechanical engineer, and an aerospace engineer by trade, and you definitely don't need that knowledge to see
what good engineering is. They are able to maintain low cost with exceptional reliability. That right there is the most difficult thing to do.
Engineering is the art of efficiency.
Anyways, like 99% of the people in this thread, most have had only good things to say about Toyota's.
I'm concerned with the comment about Jap Crap. Makes me think your just peeed about the money going outside the states, which is understandable.
However, you must realize that most of the Toyota's that are aimed for the N. American market are indeed using US suppliers for parts, as well as
assembly. Not exactly sure of exact numbers, but you could be sure that the total outsourcing isn't exactly much higher then that of Ford/Chevy and
GM.
Whatever, If your unhappy with the Toyotas, don't buy them. See if your happier with a domestic. If you are that's great.

When I say 'made', I mean "put together"... and yes, from parts made in various places, including the U.S., Mexico, and Japan (where the engine and
tranny are made, I do believe and appreciate).
