my freind was here for breakfast this morning he said he crossed yesterday in Tj. He is Mexican and he could bring up to $2500. dlls worth of stuff. He has a second hand store. He said they they turned back a gringo with his household of furniture because he did not have receipts. he was moving to TJ and they would not let his stuff cross. this gingo had all the papers but they wanted more of course. My friend said it is the same for Tj or Otay. He know it is different if you are gingos without papers. and gringo with some papers.
good luck to anyone crossing.
have some friends coming down tomorrow to spend a week here. will let you know how it goes for them. they always bring some children clothes to give away to our employees.

OK....So how about the Yellowtail Helper and the Bonita Helper? Do they have it down there? A lot of fishing folks would like to see it here.
Lemme know.

Dennis,

Yellowtail and Bonita helper? My thinking is that "helper" would be a person who knows how to process and prepare it from the get go.

I could "help" you out here, but I don't think you'd really be interested.

Beware of the first time I invite you over for dinner....(insert evil laugh here).

Your pal,
P<*)))>{

Man, I miss the Sharky days when we could discuss such topics face to face....can't wait till Sept. 23rd.

Don't worry about it. Just go. I doubt you're bringing anything that would get their attention and they arn't completely unreasonable.

whew! thanks! ever since i was returning back to the US, they stopped me and made me go to the 2nd place because i had an apple! i told them that i had taken it with me from the Us, and just didn't eat it...they then profusely scolded me, telling me if it is brought into mexico then it's from mexico, and all of the dangers of bringing fruit into the states with seeds...i was sooo tired from the trip and waiting in line and then another 1/2 hour having my car inspected for further violations.*sigh* anyway, thanks for the encouragement.

A friend of mine just bought a new house in Playas de Tijuana, an upper middle class neighborhood, built 3 years ago, never lived in. I found it for him. Smack dap on the ocean, on a bluff. Two story, 1600 sq. ft. 180 degree ocean views, Point Loma to the north, Punta Bandera to the south, Coronado Islands straight out to the west. About 0.5 miles from the border along the beach. Asking price 2 years ago was $210K. He got it for $160K. Not a property lease deal, a real deal. Nice lot with a small yard. Easy $600K in Imperial beach, about 2 miles to the north. 20 - 30 minutes to the border crossing.

We crossed this morning around 11. We weren't carrying anything across, but got the green light and didn't get pulled over. There was no wait to get in, contrary to last week when it took us about 15 minutes to cross southbound.

Drove south from SD through TJ at 15:30. The "import service" I hired was able to deliver 48 bottles of wine and same qty of beer to my home at 18:00 duty free.

It was only about 15 vehicles deep southbound at SY/TJ this afternoon. I'm thrilled to be home tonight.
