Gotta love hanging out in front of Hussongs on Saturday night. Quite the cultural education!

Anyone know if the checkpoints are OK with that?
Just curious. I don't want to test the water on this one.

Down right hate the driving/drivers in La Paz, though. |
Traffic in La Paz is a dance with flexible rules depending on the personalities and conditions, the car is an extension of the driver's body language,
and for foreigners who can't read that language, it's hard to figure out what's going on. To the locals, their out-of-sync behavior can be
disconcerting and dangerous.
I almost tail-ended some guy from California who obediently slammed on his brakes in the middle of the new 4-lane highway down by Fidepaz, in a
last-minute stop for a non-functional, purposeless traffic light that no local in his right mind would even slow down for. Now THAT is hazardous
behavior.

I know exactly where the traffic light is. I do look for cops and slow down in case it's a trick. I'll be flexible next time I pass through.
And I'll learn to dance better. Being on a bicycle in traffic is very nerve racking. Again, the dance thing.

My take on driving La Paz, they don't like stop signs, but signals rule, all in all I think they are pretty courteous. I'm personally comfortable with
La Paz Drivers.

La Paz traffic safe but not for bicyclists who can't dance

I've noticed that about stop signs. It's not even a ''California stop" (touch the brakes and roll on through). These guys let off the gas but if
there's no traffic crossing them, they don't even touch the brakes.
OK Grover, sign me up too. There IS hope.
And comitan, you probably don't ride a bicycle, eh? Think I'll just stay on the Malecon and watch for pot holes and water puddles. Hit a puddle
once and fell into a pot hole while watching the seagulls.

I had to go back & look to see what the topic was. Anyone who thinks we need to change the topic "within" a thread is 'out of balance'. All one
has to do is, "drop out of the thread" and go start a new topic. For those who think "drugs" is a great topic, then let them have the thread. Don't
get pushey, get wooshy!!!!

Just on this side of the border (San Luis to Yuma), it is very noticeable that the majority of cars with Sonora and BC plates average about 5 mph
under the limit and tend to yield at 4-way stops even when they have the right of way. My Cachanilla bud says it's a common phenomenon, as soon as
they are back on the other side they haul burro and ignore lights and signs. Logical; over here the tickets are expensive and there is no bargaining.
All my childhood I wanted to be older. Now I\'m older and this chitn sucks.
