"try using your 3-ft-long carpenters level across 50 foot distance"
hey play time yard goat...how's your sand box project coming?? hahahaha.
i don't need to try something so banal. I have a QUALITY USA made instrument with which i can shoot great distances to finite accuracy. Accurate
enough for any bldg std required under codes and convenants.
"60 feet of poly tubing is smaller/cheaper than transit, and more accurate than $30 laser level that loses calibration on same day it leaves china mfg
plant"
read above. $30 can't even buy 60 ft of decent poly today. i have NEVER had a call back due to elevational problems in subgrades, pads, hardscape or
finish floors. And all lines have had proper rise and fall where required.

Not so sure about that IQ ---sometimes the mystery person does not seem to know much about Baja or the people, but sometimes
Wonder if Kat54 has ever been to Baja. Wonder if Kat54 just likes to cause a stir. Wonder if Kat54 just likes to point out the obvious sometimes
that others won't comment on.
OH well, it is rather fun to have the mystery person around. If nothing else, gives people a chance to vent at someone.

This is funny?
Fishabductor said "If anyone is interested in my services on the eastcape.. U2U me. I have a contractor and crew ready, and can get as many workers as
you need"
Does not this mean "I am looking for a job"?

I'm just curious. Anyway, I don't think he/she has gotten to that point yet. I'm well familiar with "That Point."

Hi there, I have been doing some research on shotcrete application. There are a couple ways to do it from what I read - yes, you can spend 10-18k on
a cement pump that can blow cement through a 2" pipe, but there is an alternative cheaper way to do it. A guy in Haiti uses aircompressors, and a
special attachment that has a large rectangular pot on the end with four holes at the bottom. This attachment is attached to a hose from the air
compressor, dipped into a wheelbarrow of concrete mix, and then blasted throw the small holes onto the surface. The attachments cost about 250$
If you had three of these, and three aircompressors, a team of men could apply shotcrete without having to buy a 10k - 18k cement pump

The foam blocks are pretty cool. They are like legos, with 4"(not certain on diameter I've only seen them once in person) holes in the middle in which
a piece of rebar is threaded and then solid poured. The rebar and concrete solid pour is done once the wall is built to elevation.
Soulpatch you know who makes them and what the square foot(wall) cost is?
3-d panels are also really cool(literally) and the walls go up fast. However they require special tools(wire gun $1000 in the states). If a guy had
access to a shotcrete gun($10k) as well a house made of 3-d panels would go up fast and be cool.
You don't need the shotcrete gun, guys can throw the cement into the wire mesh face, but a shotcrete gun does a far superior job.
The down side of using foam blocks or 3d panels is they are expensive in comparison to CMU's and the walls requires several inches of concrete
covering. The quantity of concrete depends on the panel used. | |
