at least once a year one or more of the beaches in La Paz are closed due to caca in the water.
What do you expect with tens of thousands of tourists visiting and no bathrooms at the beaches?
the is a good reason why locals call the Malecon "Cacalecon"

The lack of accessible/public (and clean/useable) sanitary facilities at popular beaches encourages people to wade deep to do their business…

the city just removed all trash containers from public beaches because they were overwhelmed by the amount of trash
the new theory is that when there is no trash receptacle - people will bring less trash
we'll see how that one goes
