underway with some authorities to capture these dogs that killed these turtles and in the case of not finding an owner or not finding the person
responsible, the authorities will have to act, because these dogs, which are predators of the turtles, cannot be released again,” declared the
founder of the Network for the Protection of the Sea Turtle, Graciela Tiburcio Pintos.
In addition, the environmentalist asserted that there is a notable frustration among the turtle keepers of Todos Santos and Pescadero because the
municipal authorities have not taken into account the reports of these attacks that are not new, since last year 17 turtles were attacked by canines
in the same place.
Finally, Quiroga Romero said that this is his first report of turtles, since last year the citizens put up fences to protect the turtles so that other
animals and people do not approach them, and that should be the reaction of the entire community.
“The truth is that this is the first report that I have to deal with, last year we saw turtles that were here on the boardwalk and it was very nice
to see the reaction of the people, they even put up some fences, they protected them so that animals and people do not approach them. That is the
reaction that we should have as a community, and I hope that we are going to work in Pescadero so that, as a community, we also take care of them,”
he said.

Damn. When I was in SF back in April my buddy was attacked by a street dog right in town.
Luckily for everyone the dog bit once and backed off. I was concerned as this dog looked part pit and all I had was a small pocket knife.
Since then I've been thinking about adding some pepper spray to my kit.

The dog situation in Guerrero Negro last May-June was terrible. In my first stay there, I was on foot, and I felt lucky to escape being bitten. On my
second stay I had a bicycle, and again I felt lucky to have avoided being bitten. My Mexican friend, who is an avid bike rider, told me that GN is the
worst place on the peninsula for dogs, and it is because the city government is not doing anything to change the situation.

On San Pedrito beach, I carry my knife open and clipped to my belt and eye ball the area for dogs. In my neighborhood, people have been bitten and
dogs running free in packs not uncommon.
In La Paz, while attending Se Habla, staying at Aquamarina, I rode my bike through the barrio and carried a water bottle to squirt the dogs that
chased me. It worked.
If I ever saw a dog attacking a turtle, it would be all over for the dog.

Years ago when travelling in Mexico with a friend, he had bought one of those yoyos that light up when they spin. We were walking down a street at
night and he was playing with the yoyo, and we found that the dogs scattered away.
Also, Mexicans throw rocks at dogs to back them off. So most Mexican dogs will back off if you bend down as if you are picking up a rock, even if
there don't even happen to be any rocks there to pick up.
