crossing Mexicali east - right or left turn?
I always get lost turning right out of the border crossing - turning left is well marked, but last time I tried it I followed the signs and turned on
the usual left to Rio Hardy but found huge construction going on and had to backtrack, of course getting lost, but finally lucked onto highway 5 - Is
the route open now? Heading down to BOLA for thanksgiving - Thanks in advance.

Lot may change between now and t-giving…
The google maps “traffic” view works great for mexicali; app shows road closures, and real-time traffic speeds in red/ylw/grn.
Map app will give you real-time directions, so you wont get lost relying on signs.
Woke!

will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”

Which way?
We just came south from Calexico east. Make a right turn out of the port of entry for 1.7 miles. There are huge signs showing left turn for San
Felipe., You turn onto a nice wide street which you stay on for 5.1 miles. It makes a couple of curves but you just stay in the center lane. In 5.1
miles on this street you will make a left turn onto Highway 5. There is another big overhead sign showing a left to San Felipe at this turn. As you
approach this left turn you will see a Kenworth dealer on your left as a point of reference.
Right after this left onto Highway 5, stay in the left two lanes to go into a short underpass. There was no construction a week ago.

One time going north bound to to the east Gate i saw a big 4x4 camper turning off hwy 5 to enter the crossing from the east. I continued on hwy 5
and entered the crossing from the west. I saw the same big camper right next to me at the boarder. I don't think it is any difference between
directions. It's just what you feel comfortable with and toss in a construction zone it's any one's guess.

Thanks John, I may try that next time - I have been (and 3 of my friends) scammed by cars ramming us on the side of our trucks and demanding money, so
I have avoided going through town -
Udo and Lee, I also prefer the left turn into the industrial areas BUT last time it was closed off due to construction after quite a few miles of
driving. My question was- is it open now? Thanks

According to Google Maps (set on default with map details on Traffic) you should be able to turn left and stay on C. Novena all the way to Mex 2 (Calz
Gustavo Vildosola Castro), turn right and go to Blvr. Venustiano Carranzo, turn left and continue on to Mex 5. This should allow you to bypass the
aforementioned construction.

Construction on Blvr. Venustiano Carranzo SOUTHBOUND. Take Novena to the 92, Calzado Rotario Internacional, then make your way to Venustiano Carranzo.
NORTHBOUND Venustiano Carranzo is complete and you can take it to Calzado Indepencia then left turn to Novena.

Have not seen any recent reports for Mexicali east going north.
I wonder about the construction?
