Not Baja -- but does anyone know about Manzanillo

It's a cruise port stop. There are a few excursions offered that aren't that appealing: fruit plantations (interested in that), but coupled with a brick factory and salt flats (not so much). Lots of beaches that I can get to by bus, but in December might be a bad beach day. So Q: Does anyone know what is offered at the cruise port? Are there tours offered? (Like Cabo - vendors with signs). Online info appears outdated (2011).

Nothing recent, but I spent a couple of week in Melaque in 2008. It is just north of Barra de Navidad, and a very pleasant place to be. The mix of clean beaches between steep rocky hillsides with coral on the reefs makes for great snorkeling.

I am not a surfer, but the beaches around there (especially south of Manzanillo) tend to be pretty brutal shore breaks.

A little further north from Barra de Navidad is a beach town called La Manzanilla, where you can have a c-cktail while watching crocodiles on the beach or just offshore, or in the swamp just inland from there.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!
