Santiago B.C.S. Rock Art

I seem to remember something about rock art in the Santiago area of B.C.S., am I remembering correctly?

We’re headed to the waterfall tomorrow from San Jose and I’m trying to find some other fun stuff for us to do with the girls (ages 4,6,8) while we’re up there.

Thanks

En route to the waterfall, there are signs to hotsprings. When I went, all the "roads" leading to hotsprings were actually arroyos with flowing water so I didn't attempt to cross. But maybe you can decide if you want to check it out. When I went to the bat cave, I asked directions of a man who told me he'd take me - we walked in the arroyo, a light trail can be seen; he told me about the town, etc. (No need to drive there - it's a pretty walk - just keep to the cliffs on the close side - you'll see a big cave - a bee hive - walk into it a short ways, you'll see the bats.) If you're staying in San Jose, take another day trip to Playa Arbolito, 5 miles south of Cabo Pulmo town. It's a turnoff on the left side of the road, there's a sign - best to pay attention to when you go 5 miles. There are equipment rentals there, good snorkling, a trail along the coast to other beaches. A great place to spend a day. Another day trip is go to Rancho Buena Vista and get a day pass - $10 when I went. Access to the pool, hot tub, restaurant, bathroom, patio, beach lounge chairs, pool bar.

Thanks for the response wilderone. We were at Playa Arbolitos last year, girls had a blast snorkeling and hanging out. I’ll keep Rancho Buena Vista on the list for next year, sounds like fun.

We ended up doing the waterfall, the mission in Santiago, and stopping at the Tropic of Cancer monument to learn about that. Girls have a blast jumping from the rocks at the waterfall each year.

DK, thanks for the article, I’ll keep it for next year.
