Things to do in Punta Banda...
Camping is good at Campo La Jolla or Villarinos. At low tide you can dig a hole in the sand at the north end of Campo La Jolla's beach and have your
own hotspring tub. You can walk along miles of beach, rent horses, hunt for clam fossils, take a ride on a motorized hang glider, drive over the hill
at Rancho Kennedy and Arbolitos and see the Pacific ocean for miles to the south, beautiful kayaking there, great shore fishing. Rent a panga from
Ivan Villarino who's house is across the street from the Elementary school. You may catch Yellowtail, Cabrilla, etc. with you guide Beto.
Best tacos in the world, in our opinion are in Maneadero, at "Recreo". Right hand side of the road, right after it narrows into one lane from two.
"Valle" market in Cantu will have most of the supplies, Tecate, water, you may need as well as excellent meat.
Vegies, eggs, water, bread are available at the La Bufadora Fruiteria, not in La Buf but in Cantu. "Bernie" and "Fernando/Bandito" are great guys.
At La Bufadora you can have a great dinner on Fri. night at Gordo's as well as breakfast on Sat. and Sun. You do not have to pay to park in that lot
if you are a patron of the restaurant. Friday night is considered local/gringo night, where you will meet interesting people who live there and may
have more fun ideas of what you and your family can do. Initiate yourself with the locals with a shot of Chuy's snake tequila, as they pound the bar
and cheer you on!
Go see the blowhole, spend some money at the shops if you like.
I'll attach a few photos.
This one is of Chuy and his famous snake tequila.

This photo is taken over the hill from Punta Banda. You will see the boat launch used by the Sea Urchin fishing co-op. This is a good place to lauch
kayaks and do some close in shore fishing.

This is Arbolitos, just below the launch ramp. Great kayaking here as well.

This shot will be the last, it is taken from the top of the hill that leads to Kennedy and Arbolitos, looking back towards Ensenada.
Can you tell that we are a little bit homesick?

Things to do at Bufadora
you can stop at the many real estate offices and/or roadside stands going in offering olives, honey and many other pickled delectables along with
tacos, carnitas, birria, etc., etc. (You can eat very well, too, in street stands and restaurants on the alley walk to Bufadora).
Also, along the alley are shops that have some of the best designer purse and accessory knockoffs outside of Asia (Dooney and Bourke, Gucci, Pucci,
Louis Vuitton, etc., etc.), just inspect the quality of the hardware and stitching, that's where the cheapos screw up. I bought a *Dooney and Bourke*
tote for $35 that is large enough to slip my laptop in and I have been stopped on the street and asked where I bought it and then, the conversation
was, "You paid more than $x thousand for that, didn't you?"
There are several very, very good quality jewelery stores offering first class silver pieces; if the displays and store front looks interesting, step
in and browse and ask questions, the good places are not pushy (no touts outside) and will do backflips to accomodate you.
There are dive shops on the approach road, offering scuba/snorkeling rentals (and probably guided trips), I don't have any experience with them.
All in all, the Bufadora is a reliably interesting trip, a full collision of tourists from two different cultures out to enjoy themselves fully if you
go the the tourist route, but it is also surrounded by so much natural beauty when you go off to the beaten path. I highly recommend it.

The photos Paulina posted brought back many memories of the Kennedy camp area. Back in the 70s and 80s we did a lot of scuba diving and snorkeling in
the cove. Abalone, lobster, scallops and fish. We feasted like kings. Even rescued a young man from the university in Ensenada that shot himself in
the leg with his speargun.

There is a flea market on Friday and Saturday afternoons at the Maneadero turn-off to El Bufo, first dirt road on the right after the turn, if you're
into that sort of thing. I picked up a great surf rod and reel for 50 pesos in March.

There is also a great flea market on Wed's in central Maneadero. Fresh produce and lots of unique finds.
Hose A. Next time I am down south I want to have you and your family to my place for a BBQ.

El Bufo (for a scale reference, note the four girls on the ledge in the upper right corner). This was a calm day, it was really blowing the day before
but I forgot to put a memory card in my camera and didn't realize it until I got back to the RV.

Which one is the Turtle and which is the toad. Aaah! I think I got it. You need a few cans of green spray paint for that car.
Nice set up. Where are you parked now?

Blue Toad
What? you've never seen a blue toad before?
Like the turtle, I travel with my home on my back, so the RV is the Turtle.
My car spends most of its time being towed (toad) behind.
These names are also the licence plates on the vehicles.
Currently I'm in the Allegheny National Forest, doing some camp hosting and fishing for the summer. I'll be back on the Baja when it cools down a
little.
It's a rough life but somebody has to do it.
PS, that picture was taken at Port Townsend, WA.

Our kids also enjoy surfing on the Punta Banda beach ...waves are usually fairly small making it safe for beginners. Also as mentioned before,
digging a hole in the sand near La Jolla to enjoy the hot springs. Riding a mountain bike on the beach (avoiding the people of course) is also fun.
Those of you who know the area, can you give me any info on the new hotel being built there? We can't find any info on it, i.e. how big?? when it is
to open???
Enjoy!!!KSC

No new hotel. However, there are plenty of existing ones. I recomend the Bay Shores Inn.
