The up hill section after the Simpson ranch going into Mikes Sky Rancho could be a real problem. I don't recall any race ever being run in this direction. Always been down hill.

TW...you are 110% right!

That section is a knarly uphill...word is my friend had to use way low 4WD to climb the section...he said it's steep and going to be a brutal section....

Can't wait!:O

I rode up that direction about six months ago.
It was at least a "B" ride.
Pre running will either make it better or totally trashed???

Good luck , Corky:lol:

Here is the west half (the whole thing was too big for the forum size restriction, the way I know how to reduce)...

and the east half...

Baja Mapper notes that San Vicente, Independencia (Heroes de la), and Meling Ranch are misspelled... and the decimal for race mile 51.02 is wrong, showing it as 510.2 :O:light:

Some of the 4 wheel guys are worried a car or truck will get stuck and block the course going up that hill. It will be interesting to hear from the pre-runners.

Yesterday we pre ran the portion from Erindira to Uruapan in reverse. The views were spectacular and the course was in great shape. Only took us about four hours to do the 41 miles.

Exactly...I too believe this will happen throughout the race in different classes.

Teams should be thinking outside the box....to overcome these obstacles...:?:

259.70 race miles between Uruapan and Santo Tomas?
9 kilometers? Maybe inflation out of control?
RM 510.2 near Cerro Colorado in a 419 mile race?
There must be something missing. Maybe some local detours that I may not be aware of?

Mike, I also noted that typo, in my post above: "Baja Mapper notes that San Vicente, Independencia (Heroes de la), and Meling Ranch are misspelled... and the decimal for race mile 51.02 is wrong, showing it as 510.2"

Mike, they flopped the 2003 course map and forgot to make all the edits.

I'm thinking about it. If I was sure of vendors being there, I'd be more sure of going. Probably be at Valle Trinidad area for the race.
