Rosarito to Puerto San Carlos

Crossed the border at San Ysidro and got onto the elevated road toward Playas de Tijuana. First time for us. It was a great improvement.
We stayed in Rosarito for 2 nights at the Baja Del Sol Inn. It was clean and had a pool. Only $59 per night(week days).
Price went up to $71 Sat night but still worth it.
We had our anniversary dinner Sat night at “Casa Plasencia” in TJ. I did not want to drive into TJ so we got the yellow taxi van from Rosarito to TJ for 24 pesos per person. Then a Taxi Libre to the restaurant. After dinner we returned to Rosarito with the yellow taxi van again.
Sunday morning we started south on the free road then eventually got onto the toll road near Puerto Nuevo.
Easy drive thru Ensenada.
Approaching San Vicente there was a large plume of smoke. As we got closer we could see the flames of the brush fire. No trees in the area only low scrub brush burning on the hill sides.
Got to Baja Cactus about 4pm. No more excitement after the fire. Plenty of services along the way thru Colonet, Camalu, San Quintin…
Monday morning we headed south and picked up some burritos in Catavińa. Road conditions were really good. Pleasant drive with lots of new pavement. Got into Guerrero Negro about 3pm and ate fish tacos at “Tacos Muelle”, Tony used to have the grey fish taco truck. Now he has a sit down place.
We spent the night at Terrasol Hotel as you enter town.
Tuesday we had great drive all the way to Loreto.
The desert turned green after Viscaino with lots of butterfly’s.
Again the road was in great condition overall.
To be continued……

Wednesday…….

To be continued……
…………….
Forgot to mention dinner in Loreto at Oasis Hotel.
Ocean view table and good inexpensive food.

Wednesday
After checking out from Salvatierra Hotel(950 pesos)
Got some breakfast, topped of with gas and headed south then over the mountains to Insurgentes and Constitución.
Had some great fish tacos at Marisol taqueria in Constitución. Inside seating with air conditioning. What a relief….this was the hottest trip ever for us in October! Rosarito was near 100 and it was hot and humid all the way down.
Then we finished the day with a 45 minute drive into Puerto San Carlos. We will be there until May 1st.
Overall one of the most stress free trips. Great road conditions. Beautiful green desert with thousands of butterfly’s. Good food and friendly people. I guess that’s why I love Baja….
Pics to follow…..
