I obviously updated the settings on the server for now.... to the detriment of the abilty to post - including for myself.

Nightmare....

Had to go in and alter the code to allow people to post.

There's a setting in the code to prevent a flood of posts by a single user, only in this case since new posts were being made "earlier" than previous posts, users could not post at all... until the timestamp of any earlier posts passed.

If that makes any sense....

Darn it.

Clock screwed up?

How come my clock says 9:30am 5/7 when it's 7:30pm 5/6? I've checked my settings and DST time is correct.

Have been making some hardware changes to the server beginning on Monday and will continue until ???

I believe the clock time on the server may have changed in the process... I'll get to it after hardware is updated and working as needed.

Nope. It's 5/17 7AM and the clock shows 5/17 2:36PM. Maybe it was right earlier.

There's no rhyme or reason to these settings. They don't match any timezone. Frankly, it's frustrating, Doug.

Lets review this again.

This board resides on the Internet and is accessed worldwide... that means 24 time zones.

So, each user can be in a different time zone anywhere in the world at the same moment.

Thusly, it is common for Internet sites to reference GMT, or Greenwich Mean Time. If you access this board, and you are NOT signed in, that is the time that you see.

If you are a registered user, you can personalize the time setting in your control panel in relation to GMT.

Pacific STANDARD Time is -8.00 hours in relation to GMT, and Mountain STANDARD Time, as well as Pacific DAYLIGHT Time are -7.00 hours in relation to GMT.

Skipjack Joe, you have your setting at 0.00 - or GMT presently. If you would like the board to reference your local time, wherever that may be, you'll need to change that setting in your user control panel.

Let me know if you have any futher questions about this.

Thanks,

Got it! Thanks for your patience.

The remaining mystery is why wasn't GMT exactly 7 hours different from Pacific time. It came out to be on the half hour - either a 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 difference. Another words the post was at 7AM Pacific time and 2:36 AM GMT.

Getting these timestamps right makes a big difference for me. I use them to help me know which forum has posted since I last read it. Maybe there's another way.......(hint)
